I. Objective:
At the end of the lesson, the pupils are expected to:
a. Recognize the term “put together” and the meaning of symbols + and =.
b. Add quantities up to using concrete objects.
c. Solve simple addition story problem.

‘Let’s put together the two sets. Let’s count the combined elements
of 2 sets. The children count.
There are 2 hearts and 1 heart, if we put them together, how many “There are 3 hearts

This is plus sign (+). When you see this cross. You would see plus.
This is equals. This is the symbols for equals (=) after that, you will
answer in addition, which is called the sum.
Again let’s name the different symbols in addition. Plus, equals and
sum.
C. Discussion
Before we began let us talk about the meaning of addition. Children are listening.
Addition means it is “putting objects and numbers together.” All the
different numbers and objects you need to put them together and
you will total of that number, that’s what you call addition.

These are the different symbols that we will use in addition.

numbers or objects are arranged in standing way.You call this
vertical.
Let’s count the pears. 1,2, and 3 plus(+) three pears. 1, 2, and 3.
Equals, how many pears are there together? So 3+3 =6.
Let’s count the apples. 1,2, plus(+) 2 apples. 1and 2. Equals, how
many apples are there together? So 2+2 =4.
