5. Use the Flange tool to create a Sheet Metal Flange
a. Make sure to select all of the profiles to create a rectangular flange with no
hole through the middle
b. Flange should extrude away from the other sheet metal part
6. Select the two vertical edges of the sheet metal part and right-click and select Flange
a. Height = 32mm
b. Height Datum = Outer Faces
c.
7. Fillet the 4 edges of the “arms” 10mm
8. Switch back to the Solid Tab
9. Use the Hole command to create a 12mm hole that goes through the Sheet Metal arms
a. Diameter = 12mm
b. Extents = All
c. Drag the hole onto the dot in the middle of the face to “snap” to the center
d.
10. Activate the Wheel Assy
11. Right-Click on Wheel Mount and select Move/Copy
a. Switch the Move Type to Point To Point
b. Select Create Copy in the dialog (before moving!)
c. Select the edge of the circles as the origin and target points
d.
12. Create a New Component under Wheel Assy called Wheel Shaft
13. Use a Cylinder Primitive to create a 12mm diameter x 180mm long cylinder on the
front plane near the Wheel Mount
a.
14. Chamfer both ends 1mm
15. Use the Thread command to create a threaded section on the shaft
a. Uncheck Full Length
b. Offset = 0
c. Length = 12
d. Thread = ISO Metric profile
e. Size = 12.0
f. Designation = M12 x 1.75
g.
16. Repeat the Thread command on the other end of the shaft
17. Use the Joint command to position the end of the shaft onto the Wheet Mount
a. Snap to the end of the shaft and the outside edge of the Wheel Mount
b. Change the Offset Z to -15mm to pull the threaded section out a bit
c.
18. Use McMaster-Carr to insert in a washer and a nut
a. Washer = 98689A118 18-8 Stainless Steel Washer for M12
b. Nut = 94645A230 High-Strength Steel Nylon-Insert Locknut, M12 x 1.75
c. Use Rigid Joints to position the washer and the nut in the correct location
d.
19. Right-Click on the Washer and the Nut under the Wheel Shaft component in the
Browser and select Move/Copy
a. Change the Move Type to Free Move
b. Click on Create Copy
c. Rotate the nut and washer and then move it off of the shaft
d. Change the Move Type to Point to Point
e. Snap the end of the nut to the inside edge of the chamfer on the shaft

20. Select the Wheel and the Wheel Hub in the Browser and right-click and select Rigid
Group to group them together
21. Activate the Wheel Assy
22. Turn off the Table Assy
23. Create a Revolute Joint between the wheel hub and the washer on the Wheel Shaft
a.
24. The Wheel Hub is held in place with a stamp on the Wheel Shaft
a. Activate the Wheel Shaft
b. Create a Construction Axis through the center of the Wheel Shaft
c. Create a Construction Plane At An Angle on the axis, angle = 0
d.
e. Create a sketch on the plane
f. Project the body of the Wheel Shaft and the body of the Wheel Hub
g. Create a Centered Rectangle on the edge of the Wheel Shaft, 4mm x 4mm
square, and 1mm from the edge of the Wheel Hub
h.
i. Use the profile to Extrude/Cut away the Wheel Shaft symmetrically
j.
k. Turn the sketch back on
l. Extrude/Join the square profile symmetrically a Whole Length of 2mm
m.
n. Create a Circular Pattern of the two extrude features, a quantity of 2.

25. Let’s move the sheet metal wheel mounts out of the Wheel Assy
a. Drag Wheel Mount:1 and Wheel Mount:2 up into the Table Assy
b. Now the Wheel Assy is just the Wheel, the hub, and the Wheel Shaft and
hardware
26. Mirror the Wheel Assy across to the other Wheel Mount using the center construction
plane

27. Create a Rigid Group between the two sheet metal Wheel Mounts and the sheet
metal Leg Support Plate
28. If you drag the wheels, you notice there aren’t any joints that are correct
a. Select both Wheels and both Wheel Hubs and do an Assemble-->Rigid
Group
b. Then do an Assemble-->As-Built Joint and select the wheel hub and the shaft
c. Click on the circular edge of the shaft to define the “snap” point
d. Because we grouped both sets of wheels together, when you rotate one, the
other rotates also
