1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this procedure is to provide guidelines to carry out the
erection of the of FRP Cable tray as per approved
drawings/standards/specifications and to ensure the required quality of
work is achieved and documented.
2. SCOPE
This method statement describes the methodology used for the
installation/testing of the FRP Cable tray as per the Construction Quality
Assurance Plan and Site Inspection Plan Electrical for the COOLING TOWER
Package for AA + BA Unit Project at the DUMAD/IOCL Gujarat for IOCL Site.

Ensure material receipt and check the physical condition of the
material.
Check the physical condition of all the hardware viz. bolts, nuts,
washers, etc.

Ensure materials are stored on the wooden planks/sleepers to
avoid damage.

7. PROCEDURES
Preparation:-
Cable tray route shall be verified as per the approved cable tray
layout drawing and other related documents at the site to ensure
that no obstacles/fouling in the route.
Ensure that all cable tray supports are straight on the main
structure/pipe supports/wall and the tray support intervals are
maintained.
Cable tray shall be installed as shown on the layout drawing and as
per site conditions.
Cable tray shall be coupled properly with coupler plate, nut bolt
with washer, and tightened. A coupler plate shall be provided on
both sides.
All surfaces shall be free from defects such as burrs, sharp, edges,
etc.
Adequate distance shall be maintained from hot service
piping/equipment etc.
Cable tray should be erected on the prefabricated support and
fixed with Z and J clamps for horizontal as well as vertical ladder
cable tray.
Required quantities of trays shall be shifted into the installation
works place for installation.
The cable trays shall comply with the requirements specified in the
installation standard.
Vertical tray shall be supported at each 1.5 meters and horizontal
tray shall be 2 meters.
The area should be cleaned with the removal of scraps after
completion of the job day to day.

8. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Contractor safety officer shall carry out the safety site inspections
to ensure that safety requirements are laid out in the work
according to the safety plan.
Contractor safety supervisor shall review the safety action plan and
secure a work permit, if necessary prior to the start of any
activities JSA will be strictly followed.
Barricading of “swing” areas of equipment shall be checked prior to
the commencement of work. Red barricades shall be erected for
lifting /erection activities.
All the lifting, shifting equipment, tools & tackles shall be inspected
and color-coded.
Area for the placement/ movement of the same will be made
suitable to the required strength by spreading the load on a wider
base either of steel plates or sleeper mats.
Areas required for the lifting operations will be barricaded with
restricted entry from other people entering into the area.
All Simultaneous job operations (SIMOPS) are to be taken into
consideration for safe job progress.
Where cables are laid on trays, signs shall be in place informing
personnel not to walk or climb on the cable trays.
9. DOCUMENTATION
Documentation shall be maintained as per the approved inspection test plan.
