Advantages and Disadvantages of P2P Network Client Server Network

This document summarizes and compares the key aspects of peer-to-peer (P2P) networks and client-server networks. A P2P network partitions tasks between peers without a central server, while a client-server network has clients accessing shared files and information stored on a central server. Advantages of P2P networks include fault tolerance if a computer fails and lower costs without a server, while disadvantages include lack of centralized organization and security risks. Client-server networks have advantages like centralized data storage and security, but disadvantages such as potential traffic congestion if too many clients access the server.

Advantages & Disadvantages of

PEER-TO-PEER NETWORK &

CLIENT-SERVER NETWORK

Presented By:
Cornelio, Ma. Patricia Kayle A.
Enriquez, Sheriah V.
WHAT IS PEER-TO-PEER
NETWORK?
it is a distributed application architecture that partitions tasks or
workloads between peers. It is a group of computers, each of which
acts as a node for sharing files within the group.
WHAT'S THE
PURPOSE OF THE
P2P NETWORK?
it is created when two or more PCs are
connected and share resources
without going through a separate
server computer.
5 ADVANTAGES 1
The failure of one computer won’t disrupt
the rest of the system.
OF P2P
You get to avoid the expense of having and
NETWORK 2
maintaining a server.

Peer to peer networks don’t require a

3
network operating system.

This system doesn’t require advanced

4
knowledge to be useful.

It reduces the need to have technical staff

5
available.
5 1
The files or resources are not centrally
organized with a P2P network.
DISADVANTAGES
Virus introduction risks rise with a peer to
OF P2P 2
peer network.

NETWORK
3 P2P networks often have very little security.

There is no way to back up files or folders

4
centrally.

P2P networks often suffer from

5
performance issues.
WHAT IS CLIENT-
SERVER NETWORK?
it is a communications model in which multiple client programs share
the services of a common server program. A form of internet network
that consists of a single central computer functioning as a server and
directing several other computers, referred to as clients.
WHAT'S THE
PURPOSE OF THE
CLIENT-SERVER
NETWORK?
Clients can access shared files and
information kept on the serving
machine by connecting to the server.
It can help them connect using a
shared database.
5 ADVANTAGES 1
Centralization: All the necessary
information are placed in a single location.
OF CLIENT- A client-server network may be expanded
SERVER 2 by adding network segments, servers, and
PCs with little downtime.
NETWORK
Security: The data is well protected due to
3
its centralized architecture
The client-server system's nodes are all
self-contained, requesting data only from
4
the server, allowing for simple upgrades,
replacements, and relocation.
It is really simple to handle files because
5
they are all kept on the same server.
5 Traffic Congestion: If too many clients make
1 request from the same server, it will result in
DISADVANTAGES crashes or slowing down of the connection.

Robustness: The whole network will be

OF CLIENT- 2 interrupted, if the primary server experiences
failure or interference.
SERVER
The cost of setting up and maintaining the
NETWORK 3 server is typically higher than the cost of
running the network.

Maintenance: When the servers are

4
implemented, it is going to work non-stop.

Not all the resources that is present on the

5
server is acquirable.
