CASE BASED / DATA BASED

Read the given information below, and then answer the questions based on it.
CASE STUDY-1
13. Mr Gupta went for an out-station tour with some of his students. While crossing a bridge from a
point on the bridge across a river, he found that the angles of depression of the banks on
opposite sides of the river are 30° and 45°, respectively. He used clinometers to measure the
angles.
When he came back, he told his other students, about this experience of outing. He told them
that the bridge is at a height of 3 m from the banks.
(i) Make a labeled figure on the basis of the given information and find width of the river.
(ii) Two students Bharat and Sejal are standing at two opposite banks, then find their distance
from Mr Gupta (when Mr Gupta is measuring the angles while crossing the bridge).
CASE STUDY-2
14. Tanu wants to participate in a 200 m race. She can currently run that distance in 51 seconds and
with each day of practice it takes her 2 seconds less. She wants to do it in 31 seconds. Keeping
above situation in mind answer the following questions:

(i) Form an A.P. representing the above situation and hence find the minimum number of days
she needs to practice before the day her goal is achieved.
(ii) What will be the minimum days she needs to break the world record?
(World record 22 sec)
