- The lesson plan teaches students about proper waste management by classifying wastes into biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and hazardous categories with examples of each. - Students will participate in an introductory activity to identify waste-related words. They will then discuss waste found at home, school, and the community and how to identify each waste category. - The lesson concludes with an assessment where students identify true or false statements about waste classification and management.

- Think about the waste products that can be found at home, in school, and in the
4.1-Activity community.
- How will you know that waste is biodegradable? Non-biodegradable? Hazardous?
- What are the practices that you do?

4.3-Analysis - How can you lessen the amount of biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and hazardous
waste at home? In school? In the community?

Identify and separate wastes

- Wastes could be classified as biodegradable, non- biodegradable, and hazardous wastes.

➢Biodegradable are wastes that can decompose or destroy by bacteria or living

organism.

Examples:
Animal and human wastes (manure), dry leaves/twigs, kitchen scraps,
vegetables scraps, dead animals, paper, old magazines, wood, etc.

 ➢Non-biodegradable are those wastes that cannot be destroyed by any means

 even if they are burned.
Abstraction 
(5 minutes)  Examples:
 Rubber, metals, plastic bottles, tin cans, broken glasses, needle, electronic
 parts, empty sachets, cellophane, etc.

 ➢Hazardous wastes are dangerous wastes that are harmful to people, plants,
 and animals.

 Examples:
 Expired medicines, chemical wastes, used batteries, used fluorescent bulbs,
 used engine oil, radioactive materials, insecticides, pesticides, etc.

- Let the pupils write 5 examples in each waste classification

Learners’ Products and/or Tests) 10 minutes

- Identify the following statement. If the statement is true draw a star, but if it is not draw a circle.

1. __________ Waste can’t be separated.

2. __________ There are three classification of wastes.
3. __________ Hazardous waste must be dispose properly.
4. __________ Broken glass is an example of biodegradable waste.
5. __________ Hazardous wastes are not dangerous wastes that are harmful to people, plants, and animals.
6. __________ Non-biodegradable are those wastes that can be destroyed by any means even if they are
