CSM-320EW Network Information Management and Control Device Hardware Manual
1 Overview
1.1 Principle
CSM-320EW Series are new generation devices for managing the automation
information in substations. They are suitable for SAS of various voltage levels, various
sizes and various functions.
With the rapid development of PC technology, communication technology and
network technology, power system communication is changing remarkably. Original
centralized, slow and private telecommunication systems are translating into open,
high speed and integrated systems. Meanwhile, a kind of protocol gateway is also
needed in substations to integrate IEDs of various manufacturers into SAS in order to
share the whole system information, because there is still no widely used protocol
architecture or universal network for inter-connecting IEDs.
In accordance with these technical requirements, Sifang developed CSM-320EW
series device based on CSM-320EP series Network Information Management Device.
CSM-320EW was developed on the powerful 32bits industrial PC hardware platform
and international leading embedded real-time operation system platform. As long as all
Sifang products, CSM-320EW follows the perfect features, including high reliability
and high EMC performance. CSM-320EW is a fast and flexible multi-protocol gateway,
with friendly user’s interface and easy-to-use configuration/debug tools. CSM-320EW
is not only a telecontrol unit of the station layer, but also acts as an application
interface or physical interface. CSM-320EW can be configured freely according to the
project requirement. It is a new powerful automation information manager in SAS.
CSM-320EW can be applied in the following scope:
1) Telecontrol distributed RTU. CSM-320EW is a multi-channel and
multi-protocol telecontrol unit, as an RTU communication with RCC, RSCC
or dispatching center. At most 4 logical RTU can be configured within one
physical channel. Data source interface of CSM-320EW can be Ethernet and
serial port. Being a telecontrol unit, CSM-320EP supports IEC60870-5-101,
DNP3.0, RP570, SC1801, U4F as telecontrol protocols.
2) Network RTU. Up to 8 Ethernet interfaces are also available for CSM-320EW.
It is very easy to expand telecontrol interface or relay interface.
3) Protocol gateway. CSM-320EW can act as a master node of IEC 60870-5-103,
DNP3.0, MODBUS. Interfaces are Ethernet, RS232, RS485 in this case.

4) Relay protocols supported are:
IEC 60870-5-103
MODBUS
SPA
MLINK+
COURIER
SC1801
DNP3.0
5) Database capacity of CSM-320EW is fairly enough for a standard 500kV
substation, almost without limitation.
6) Measurement precision:
Current, voltage: 0.2%; power: 0.5%; frequency: 0.01Hz
7) Mean time To Failure(MTBF) 20000h
System Availability 99.9%
8) Refresh time:
The time for sending signal to remote scada by CSM-320EW is decided by
protocol baudrate and amount of signals. Such as transfer with CDT using
1200 baudrate:
Digtal signal refesh time 1s; important analog refesh time 2s; less
important analog refesh time 5s; general analog refesh time 10s; SOE
1ms.
9) Environment:
Ambient Temperature: 0 ~40
Relative Humidity: 5%~95%
Atmospheric Pressure: 80kPa~110kPa
2 Technical Conditions

in the equipment. The equipment should work normally after the temperature
going back to normal.
b) Relative Humidity
Maximum relative humidity of monthly average is 90 , meanwhile the lowest
monthly average temperature of this month is 25 and there is not coacervate
dew on surface.
c) Atmospheric Pressure 80kPa 110kPa
d) The danger of fire, explosion, corrosion for device and overstated manual
vibration, impact, collision are forbidden in using place.

There are LCD, Sifang keyboard, four function keys and several groups of
indicator lights on the front panel.
Indicator lights indicate the status of power, 8 Ethernet-T ports, 2 Ethernet-FX
ports, 10 serial ports as shown in figure 7-1.
There are two Ethernet indicator lights in one row as a group, respectively
indicators of connection, data sending and receiving. There are two Serial port lights in
one row as a group, respectively indicators of data receiving, data sending.
LCD of CSM-320EW has 160×80 pixel, displaying 10×5 Chinese characters. For
pleasing to the eye, we have added frame when displaying, so LCD can display 9×4
Chinese characters actually. Driver of LCD is packed with CSM-320E series software
package. LCD Sifang keyboard and four function keys can help the users to display
and modify some important system information. Please refer to CSM-320E series
software manual for detail usage.
There are 2 DB9 serial ports terminal X1 X2 for serial ports 3~10 8 Ethernet
ports power terminal(designed for redundancy) and extension board(reserved for
expanding Ethernet-FX) on the back panel.CSM-320EW can provide tow Ethernet-FX
at most, which are ST ports, wavelengh 1310.
