Job Responsibilities QC Coating Inspector:

 Painting / coating inspection of steel structural works, pipeline, pressure vessels, new building
Construction piping spools and pipe rack erection.
 Implementation of project (ITP) for specific project / company requirements/ surface
preparation and painting / coating procedure.
 Verified all equipment calibrations and material certificates.
 Attend appropriate quality audits and inspections covering contractors, suppliers and
sub-contractors.
 Ensure contractor Quality management system plans are followed.
 Raise RFI's to client inspection department through project management.
 Participate weekly quality meetings. Report deviations and Non-conformance.
 Handle surveillance inspection of surface preparation; paint mixing , WFT,DFT, adhesion and
curing of paint.
 conduct inspection of consumables like blasting abrasives , paint, powder and insulating
material.
 Ensure personal Qualifications for blasters and painters.
 Inspect painting and coating equipment on site before production.
 Co-ordinate with the paint manufacturer technical representative on daily basis.
 Check dew point, RH and substrate temperature for suitable of blasting and coating.
 compressed air purity test shall be follow day to day work shift basis.
 Monitor and ensure the paint materials are stored in good condition and including temporary
site storage area .

 Grade the surface profile by using standard comparators (ISO surface profile comparators,
Replica test, dial gauge method.

 After blasting surface cleanliness and Dust method test as per standard.

 Physical examination for that material applied is same as per specification.

 After coating application curing test if required will conduct MEK test.

 Contact final coating inspection and testing of DFT, Holiday detection (Low voltage DC wet
sponge test and High Voltage Holiday detector.
 After coating application contact Adhesion Test as per standard.
 Witness & inspection for field joint Coating.
 Check for uniformity of insulation surface, no gapes or voids and check for thickness.
 verify the distance between the bands & check moisture protection at location where moisture
could enter the insulation and segments properly staggered and tight.
 To check and monitor all painting / coating related works and ensure all final products meet in
accordance with company procedure, client requirement and international codes shall be follow
such as codes as standards SSPC, ISO, ASTM, NACE and also Saudi Armco (SAES-H Series,
SAMSS,APCS,SATIP.
 Paint Handled Jotun paints , APPG International paints, Hempel Paints and Carboline brands.
 MSDS details and manufacturer test certificates for the paint products.
 Inspection carried out for various type of pipeline and spools liquid coatings and internal
external FBE Coating etc.
 visit cement lining inspection and Non- cured visco elastic property wrapping coating inspection
on the pipe body joints.
 In structural parts Inspection carried out Thermal spray aluminum coating (TSA) and galvanizing
coatings inspected.
 Thixotropic Coating application checked in (TSA and PFP after application) areas.
 Write inspection reports and initiate Rejection Notices, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).

Responsibilities as a Mechanical and Welding Inspector:

 Inspection of materials before welding, cleanliness of materials, inspections for weld groove
angle, root gap.
 Day-to-Day of fit-up, weld visual inspection & Surveillance of piping works at site.
 Preparation of Daily Welding Report (DWR) and getting approval from clients

 Visual inspection and dimensional of completed weld


 Co-ordinate with welding engineer to prepare WPS & PQR.
 Witnessing welder Qualification tests along with client and issue welder ID cards for qualified
welders.
 Coordinating with the third party inspection bodies for Non Destructive Tests (NDT) like MPT,
DPT, RT tests and facilitating the work fronts for the same.
 Material traceability of materials & welding Consumables as per codes & project spec.
 Repair of weld found defected by visual inspection
 Good practical, theoretical knowledge in the interpretation of drawings, working knowledge of
international codes, specifications and QA/QC procedures
 Performing and Witness of welder qualification as per the approved WPS. Conducting
inspection of piping materials and review of Material Test Certificate (MTC).
 Monitoring the control & maintenance of welding consumables, storage, and baking, re-baking
and welding consumable issue slip.
 Orifice plate & flange inspection (visual, dimensional checks and orientation of pre tap holes).
 Punch clearing inspection before and after pressure tests.
 Reinstatement and final assembly inspection and final mechanical completion of installed
piping, final witnessing and performing.
 Ensure for the valid calibration status of monitoring and measuring devices like Welding
Machines, Baking & Holding Ovens, and Quivers etc.
