KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Mr. Rahul Singh is the State Information Commissioner in


Madhya Pradesh Information Commission, a statutory body
constituted under the Right to Information Act, 2005, (RTI
Act, 2005) entrusted with the power to receive and inquire
into the appeals & complaints filed under the RTI Act.

RAHUL SINGH

Rajeev is a graduate in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur


(batch of 1979) and has a Post Graduate Degree in Management
from IIM (Ahmedabad). Rajeev also has a Master’s degree in
Public Policy from Princeton University, US. He is currently
serving as State Information Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh. His
interests include teaching and training especially in the areas of
Finance, Economics, Public Policy, Human Resource Development
and Governance.

RAJEEV KUMAR

Aruna Roy is an Indian social activist, professor,


union organiser and former civil servant. She is
the president of the National Federation of
Indian Women and founder of the Mazdoor Kisan
Shakti Sangathan.

He works for the Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan (Mazdoor


Kishan Shakti Sangthan), Suchna Evum Rozgar Adhikar
Abhiyan and NCPRI (National Campaign for People's Right
to Information). He has been actively working for Right to
Information, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment
Guarantee Act, Lokpal bill and Right to Food and other
Human Rights organisations

DHARMASHASTRA NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, JABALPUR

Situated in the heart of India, Dharmashastra National Law


University, Jabalpur, was established in 2018 under the
Madhya Pradesh Dharmashastra National Law University Act
24 of 2018 with the motto "Satya Vad Dharma Char," which
motivates the upcoming lawyers to take up the path of
"Satya" [truth] and uphold "Dharma" [rules of conduct]. The
vision of the university is to disseminate knowledge and the
culture of law to the future torchbearers of law and justice in
the country. Since its inception, the university has strived
for excellence through its various activities, fests, and
programs, and in just a short span of 4 years, the university
has been constantly evolving and achieving with its vibrant
student culture. The university strives to become not only a
knowledge-driven institution, but also a creativity- and
wisdom-driven institution. Law has the power to guide
humankind, and it must be upheld. That is something that
the varsity is persistently working towards and aims to
execute in the most creative ways possible.

ABOUT
VIDHI MITRA, THE LEGAL AID CELL OF DNLU JABALPUR

Vidhi Mitra, the legal aid cell of Dharmashastra National Law


University, Jabalpur, is a student run cell that aims to provide
legal and paralegal services. It was established in 2018. Its goal
is to make the legal system and justice more accessible to the
general public, as well as to raise public awareness about current
legal issues and established people's rights. Its main aim is to
provide assistance and free legal aid to the socially and
economically backward sections of society who have difficulty
accessing the judicial system. To spread legal awareness, we at
Vidhi Mitra regularly perform legal literacy programs, seminars,
field visits, and other activities through efficient use of media
and blogs. Vidhi Mitra has also started its Legal Aid Cell, which
aims to provide free legal service to the underprivileged, for
whom legal counsel and aid are unreachable. The committee's
executive and associate members work tirelessly to carry out its
mandate and meet its goals and objectives.
