Activity 2
Activity 2
The table below provides monthly revenue values for Tedstar, Inc., a company that sells valves to
large industrial firms. The monthly revenue data have been graphed using a line chart in the figure
below.
(a) What are the problems with the layout and display of this line chart?
One of the problems with the layout and display of this line chart is that it is hard to analyze. The
values of revenue are in dollar sign and one unit of y-axis equals to $10,000. This is why the data
lacks a bit accuracy and exactness. It can be better represented or displayed if the gab in dollar
value per unit on y-axis gets increased to get a clearer image of the monthly revenue values. For
the given graph, there is a gap of $10,000. So, the gap can be increased to $20,000.
Furthermore, the horizontal gridlines in the graph are making it a bit messy that also becomes a
problem with the layout and display of the line chart. It would make the graph better if the
gridlines will be remove on the chart.
(b) Create a new line chart in Excel for the monthly revenue data at Tedstar, Inc. Format the chart to
make it easy to read and easy to interpret the data. Refer to the Excel file for the reference data
on Tedstar.
