C. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation of the Lesson
The activity that we had, have something to do
with our topic for today. Today, we are going to
have a new lesson about The Writing Process. No yet.

Is anyone familiar with The Writing Process or

have you already encountered what and how The

Writing Process works?

Okay if none. We are now going to start

discussing it so I demand your full participation
for today. Are we clear?

2. Discussion
So, class, let us define first what is Writing.

Writing is a process that involves several

distinct steps: prewriting, drafting, revising,
editing, and publishing.
It is important for a writer to work through each
of the steps in order to ensure that he has
produced a polished, complete piece. The
writing process is not always linear. A writer
may move back and forth between steps as
needed. For example, while you are revising,
you might have to return to the prewriting step to
develop and expand your ideas. Yes ma’am. Yes sir.

Are we clear class with the definition of

Writing? Did everyone understand?

Let us now move forward to the main lesson

which is the Writing Process starting with Pre-
Writing.

Prewriting is anything you write a draft of your

document. It’s the first stage of the writing
process where the writers focus on generating Plan to write or do research ma’am.
ideas. This is where we think on how we are (Answers may vary)
going to approach our write up.

Let’s say I have an idea for writing: I have

decided I will make a write up about our school.
I have the topic but what else do I need to get
started?

Thank you, class. Great answers.

The students will answer.
So, here is what I will do. First, I will think of
the kind of piece to write. Is it to please the
editor, to promote the school, to expose
something not right. Who will be my readers,
will I be using the first point of view or third
point of view. Did you notice the things that I am
considering?

This class is how you determine your writing

situation. So, you want to take in consideration
the following:

 Knowing the kind of paper

Yes ma’am. Yes sir.
 Purpose
 Audience
 Tone to use

Is this clear class?

Now that we have determined the purpose,
audience, and the tone lets move on to the pre- Students will come in front and write their

Okay, now let’s assume “School” as our general Junior High School is fun
topic. Now, School is a very broad topic and I
don’t think we can write a one paragraph or 5
paragraph essays about school. So, help me out
here to generate topics about a write up for
school. The goal here is to just let your ideas
flow. No wrong answers. Anyone can give me
topics to write about the school.

Nice work everyone! You know that we have Yes ma’am. Yes sir.
just done? We used the strategy brainstorming.

Brainstorming is one of the most popular

methods of discovering your writing topic.
Brainstorming works well in group too. Students will come in front and write their
ideas.
Are we clear class with brainstorming strategy?
Possible answers:
Now, let us proceed to the next strategy, which The Future
we call clustering. Clustering is also called Robots
mind mapping or idea mapping. Let’s take Replacing human work
“Technology as distraction” as the general topic.
We want to create relate topics regarding this.
Now can you please help me map out ideas for
this topic.
Great job everyone. Clustering is especially
useful in determining relationships between
ideas, you will distinguish how the ideas fit
together. Clustering your ideas lets you see them
visually in a different way, so you can more (Students will either say no or they will ask

Now I know you’ll find it that next time you are
asked to write an essay you will not be staring on
your paper. Always start with your prewriting.

Do you have any questions?

Now, let us move forward with the Drafting.

In drafting stage, you need to decide what

pattern or technique of developing argument you
will use in writing your essay. As you write the
three major parts of the essay- introduction, body
and conclusion, it is important to use persuasive Yes ma’am.
language and to support your opinion with
logical reasons, research studies, statistics and
expert opinions. Using these writing weapons
skillfully will make your essay truly convincing.
