Personal Community and Environmental Health
Personal Community and Environmental Health
As humans, we are interconnected with our environment. Our natural and built
environment is more than just a place for us to live. The state of our world affects our
physical and mental health. This vital relationship between humans and our
surroundings is called environmental health.
Environmental health is the branch of public health that: focuses on the
relationships between people and their environment; promotes human health and well-
being; and fosters healthy and safe communities. Environmental health is a key part of
any comprehensive public health system. The field works to advance policies and
programs to reduce chemical and other environmental exposures in air, water, soil and
food to protect people and provide communities with healthier environments.
This course gives us environmental health awareness that can help us prevent
disease outbreaks and reduce the burden of disease. By also raising environmental
health awareness, we can enforce better protection for the creatures and plants around
us.
Having this course teaches every student on how to be aware with what is
happening with our environment and how we, humans can tend to the environment’s
needs as much as our own.
