Descriptive Writing

The primary purpose of descriptive writing is to describe a person,


place or thing in such a way that a picture is formed in the reader's
mind. Capturing an event through descriptive writing involves
paying close attention to the details by using all of your five senses.
Ex;
“In the late summer of that year we lived in a house in a village that
looked across the river and the plain to the mountains. In the bed of
the river there were pebbles and boulders, dry and white in the sun,
and the water was clear and swiftly moving and blue in the
channels.

Narrative Writing
Is A Style that allows the writer to tell a story . It Can include
actual events told in chronological order or it may include imagined
events told in a timeline that the author creates. Narrative Writing
can sustain the reader’s attention and help the visualize a realistic
experience from the Words.
Ex;

“Joy” By Zadie Smith
 Expository Writing
“Expository” means “intended to explain or describe something.”
An expository essay provides a clear, focused explanation of a
particular topic, process, or set of ideas. It doesn't set out to prove a
point, just to give a balanced view of its subject matter.

 Persuasive Writing
Persuasive writing is a text in which the author tries to convince the
reader of their point of view. Unlike academic papers and other
formal writing, persuasive writing tries to appeal to emotion
alongside factual evidence and data to support its claims.
Ex:
Persuasive texts can take a number of forms, for example an advert
persuading you to buy some chocolate, a poster encouraging people
to stop smoking or a travel brochure enticing the reader to go to a
particular country.

 Technical Writing
Technical writing is a form of communication that professionals
use to convey information about specialized topics. A technical
writer might create content to provide instructions or explain
technical concepts regarding environmental regulations, computer
applications or medical procedures.
Ex:
Business Plans. Executive Summary: This section provides an
overview of the business plan, target market, and purpose. · Product
Description:
User manuals or instruction manuals come with various products,
such as consumer electronics like televisions, consoles, cellphones,
kitchen appliances

 Research Writing
Research writing is writing that uses evidence (from journals,
books, magazines, the Internet, experts, etc.) to persuade or inform
an audience about a particular point. In academic research writing,
emphasis is put on bringing together individual insights and results.
Ex:
Abortion Research Paper.
Bullying Research Paper.
Diversity Research Paper.
Divorce Research Paper.
Drugs Research Paper.
Environmental Issues Research Paper.
Evolution Research Paper.
Food Research Paper
 Writing For Media
Media writing is the process of writing content for mass publication
through particular media outlets. This may include newspapers,
magazines, popular websites, blogs, social media and other
publications.
Ex:
News
News writing is a straightforward type of writing that presents
facts, events and other information to readers in an accurate
manner. People may use news writing for newspapers, websites or
broadcasting. Most news writing follows the inverted pyramid
structure, meaning that writers communicate the most important
information first.

Responses To Literature
A response to literature is an essay that is written in response to all
of, or a specific element of, a piece of literature. In a response to
literature essay, you state your own opinions about the theme, plot,
characters or settings, backed up with evidence from the literary
text.
Ex:
body expressions, oral remarks, written remarks, drawings,
diagrams, webs, creative movement, dramatics, play activities, and
many other kinds of activities.
