DLP - Q3 - W5 - Day 3 - Mathematics 4

The document is a lesson plan for a 4th grade mathematics class. The lesson focuses on estimating the duration of time in minutes. Students will practice estimating elapsed time by completing problems and activities involving start and end times. They will compare estimated to actual elapsed times. The teacher will assess students' understanding through an activity where they estimate elapsed times and choose the correct answer.

and Time 12:35-1:15 PM
GRADE 1 to 12
DAILY LESSON PLAN
Week 5 – Day 3

I. OBJECTIVES:
A. CONTENT STANDARD: The learners demonstrate understanding of the concept of time, perimeter,
area, and volume.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learners are able to apply the concepts of time, perimeter, area,
and volume to mathematical problems and real-life situations.
C. LEARNING COMPETENCY: The learners estimate the duration of time in minutes. M4MEIIIf-12
D. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the 50 minutes lesson, the learners should be able to:
1. estimate the duration of time in minutes;
2. compute for the estimated elapsed time; and
3. show enjoyment in doing learning activities.

II. CONTENT:
A. TOPIC: Estimating the Duration of Time in Minutes
B. REFERENCES: Module in Mathematics 4
C. MATERIALS: PowerPoint presentation, Laptop, TV
D. VALUING: Obedience

III. PROCEDURES:
1. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES:
A. ENERGIZER: It’s Mathematics Time

2. DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES:
A. DRILL:

B. REVIEW: Complete the table by filling in the elapsed time.

3. MOTIVATION:
Do you obey your parents when you are asked to do something?
How do you show your willingness to obey?

4. PRESENTATION OF THE LESSON: Mang Rodel owns a poultry farm. He asked Joven to gather
eggs every morning. Joven started to gather eggs at exactly 8:05 a.m. He finished gathering at
around 8:48 a.m. About how many minutes did he gather eggs at the poultry farm?
1. What is Joven doing?
2. At what time did he start and finish gathering the eggs?
3. What is asked in the problem?
4. What phrase in the problem tells that an estimated elapsed time is asked for?
5. How can we find the estimated length of time Joven gathers eggs?

5. ANALYSIS: When we use the phrase “about how many”, we do not ask for the exact answer but we
estimate the amount of time that passes through from one time to another.
Estimate the length of time Joven gathers eggs. How can you do it?

Answer: Joven gathers eggs for about 40 minutes.

To see if the estimated elapsed time is reasonable we have to find the actual time and compare it with
the estimated time. Observe that the estimated elapsed time is close enough to the actual time.

6. ABSTRACTION:

7. APPLICATION:
Activity 1: Read the clock and estimate the elapsed time.

Activity 2: Find the estimated time in each situation below.

1. Joash began working on his assignment at 7:05 p.m. and finished at 7:51 p.m. About how long did
it take him to do his assignment? ___________________
2. Josiah left school at 4:22 p.m. and arrived at home at 4:48. About how long did he travel?
___________________
3. Iah and her friends decided to have a vacation in Baguio. They went to the bus station at 5:46 a.m.
The bus arrived at 6:15 a.m. About how long did they wait? ___________________
4. Darius jogs everyday around the park. This morning he started jogging at 4:03 a.m. and ended at
4:51 a.m. About how long did he run this morning? ___________________
5. Athina and Naiah started working on their project in Mathematics after their class in the afternoon at
3:17 p.m. They finished their project at 4:12 p.m. About how long did they work on their project?
___________________
IV. ASSESSMENT: Estimate the elapsed time and choose the letter of the correct answer.

V. AGREEMENT: Complete the table by filling in the estimated and actual elapsed time.

VI. REFLECTION:

A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the

evaluation
B. No. of learners who require additional activities
for remediation who scored below 80%
C. Other Activities
