1. A group of girls wants to buy a present for their teacher. If each person pays $4,
they would be $2 short. If each person pays $5, they would have $4 extra. How

4. Lucas went to the bookshop to buy some notebooks. If he buys 6 notebooks, he


would be short of $3. If he buys 9 notebooks, he would need another $21. How
much money did Lucas have?
