a. Rewrite the following sentences without changing their meanings.


1. Because it is raining, we cannot have the party in the garden.
If it wasn’t raining, we could have the party in the garden.
2. Travel agents receive free air tickets. Unfortunately I am not working at a travel agent‘s.
If I was working at a travel agent’s , I would receive free air tickets.
3. He is not here at the moment so he cannot help us
If he were here at the moment, he could help us.

4. He takes a short holiday as he doesn’t earn enough money for a longer one.
If he earned enough money for a longer one, he wouldn’t take a short holiday

5. Because it is rainy, we cannot have the party in the garden.


If it weren’t rainy, we could have the party in the garden.
