Visual-Spatial Intelligence

Materials needed: Cartridge paper, ruler, marker, five (5) pictures of living things and five (5)

pictures of non-living things, camera, video camera, real-life animals and plants, pencil, glue,

any other materials you may need to create games, science note book, science textbook

In groups of five (5), you will work together to design and organize an information booth in your

assigned area in the classroom.

i. Create and design an interactive chart using cartridge paper with two columns labeled living

things and non-living things. Draw and take pictures of any five living things and five non-

living things found in the environment. Find a creative way for people to place drawings or

pictures under the correct columns. The chart should have a proper title.

ii. Create a fun and creative video to identify the characteristics of living things for a variety of

real-life animals and plants found in Jamaica. Each student must show one characteristic of

living things. No student should show the same characteristics. Notes given on the

characteristics of living things can be used)

The video should include:

a) Each student showing a REAL animal or plant found in Jamaica

b) Characteristics must be shown (excretion, movement/lotion, excretion,

growth/development, irritability, respiration/breathing)

c) A short sentence stating about what characteristics the animal or plant is showing

d) A short definition on the process or characteristic being shown

Please note the video should be shown in the booth.

iii. Ask your parents or guardian to take you to the zoo or garden. Each student should take one

photograph of a living thing and a non-living. Please note no student should have the same

living and non-living thing photograph. These photographs should be on display in the

booth. These photographs should have a sentence stating what the name of thing in the photo

graph is and if it is a living thing or nonliving thing.

iv. Conduct research and prepare information in the form of a puzzle or bingo game about living

and nonliving things. Your game should be creative and informative by highlighting the

characteristics of living things and non-living things. Be sure to give your game a name.

(Notes given on living and non-living things can be used, information can also be found

in your science textbook on pages 57-60 along with online information)

Note briefly:

1. Please pay keen attention to the assignment due date as 5 marks will be deducted for

late submission.

2. Use the rubric as a guide to complete the task.

3. All information should be written in STUDENT’S HANDWRITTING.
