Unit 7 Trignometry Assessment

This document is a trigonometry assessment for MPM2D Unit 7. It contains 6 application questions about right triangles and trigonometry. Students are asked to label diagrams, solve for variables, find side lengths, and calculate total distances using trigonometric functions like sine, cosine, and tangent. They are also given a communication rubric to review their use of mathematical terminology, organization, diagrams, reasoning, and inclusion of units in solutions.

5. Anjana is training for a marathon. She has designed a route to help her get into shape. She first
she runs 5 km from Bramalea to Torbram Rd, then she turns left at an angle of 35𝑜 and runs 3
km to North Park Drive. On her last run she cuts across from North Park back to Torbram at an
angle of 45𝑜 .
a. Draw a diagram [A2]

b. What is the distance she runs from North Park Drive to Torbram. [A4]

c. What is the total distance she ran to the nearest kilometer? [A1]

6. A sign is supported by a pole and a 10 m cable, as shown. The cable is attached to the wall.
above the base of the pole. Find the length of the pole, to the nearest tenth of a meter. [A5]

mathematical
terminology. (Eg. Only
one equal sign per line,
operations are in the
