Registration. This competition is for GAS, HUMSS, ABM, STEM and TVL-ICT Senior High School students. All
participants must be a bona fide student of PHINMA Cagayan de Oro College.
The participant should have a passing grade of at least 75 across all subjects. For G12 Students, no grades
below 75 or INC/FA remarks on his or her grades from G11 1st Semester, G11 2nd Semester, and G12 1st
Semester. For G11 Students, no grades below 75 or INC/FA remarks on his or her grades from G11 1st
Semester.
For verification, participants should submit a photocopy of ID (AY 2022-2023), and grades reports for the
semesters mentioned above.
AG 1 This event is a one (1)) day activity where the different strand chess competitors will face each strand by a
double elimination round.
AG 2 Time controls for each player in a game of blitz chess are, according to FIDE, 12 minutes per player with no time
increment per move.
AG 3 Each strand must have 4 to for Women’s division and Men’s division. Assign each player from Board 1-4 and
their position is permanent.
AG 4 Each strand must provide at least 2 chess mats per division and 2 chess clocks.
AG 5 Draw lots for the sequence of the game will be done on the first day of the event.
AG 6 All players must be in the game area 5 minutes early prior to the set time. The game will start even if the players
are still incomplete..
AG 7 Before the first round starts, a coin will be tossed and board 1 per strand must take a guess if it’s a head or tail.
The one who will get it right will play as White while the opponent will play as black. The players from board 2-4
will play as black and white alternately depending on what their board 1 will get.
AG 8 A touch-move rule will be strictly followed even in an open-check situation.
AG 9 The hand that will be used to punch the clock should also be the same hand in using to pick and move the chess
pieces
AG 10 When the game proper starts, there will be no other students allowed in the game area aside from the coaches
and the players.
AG 11 Everyone in the game area must not make unnecessary noises to prevent distraction of the players.
AG 12 All phones and other electrical gadgets must be turned off or silent. No taking of calls or text and other
unnecessary doings once the game started. All players must stay until the end of the game .Failure to follow will
be subject to losing the round.
AG 13 Minor Offences such as using two hands in making a move; displacement of piece/s on the chess board; use of
force in pressing the chess clock, etc. shall be penalised by oral warning on the 1st offence and loss of the game
on the 2nd offense.
AG 14 If it is found that the starting position of the pieces is incorrect, the game must be cancelled and restarted. If it is
found that an illegal move has been made, the game must return to the position directly before the irregularity.
For the first illegal move by a player, the arbiter shall give two minutes extra time to his opponent each time. If a
player is to make a second illegal move in the same game, the arbiter shall declare the game lost by the
offending player. If a game begins with the piece colors reversed, the game should be stopped and restarted
unless an arbiter rules otherwise. If a player displaces any pieces, they should place them in the correct locations
on their own time.
AG 15 Any form of cheating is strictly prohibited and could lead to automatic DISQUALIFICATIONS!
AG 16 Everyone is expected to show sportsmanship throughout the game. Trash-talking and other unacceptable
behaviour will be subjected to disqualification.
AG 17 This is final and evocable. Failure to follow guidelines will be investigated and could result in automatic
ELIMINATION!
