Mood Board
A Mood Board is a collage that visually expresses yourself through images. It can contain illustrations,
pictures, textiles, graphics, and text to express your ideas.

The basic concept of a Mood Board: a collage or pinning of textures, images and text related to a
design theme as a reference point.

Some things a mood board could include:

- Sketches
- Illustrations
- Color/paint swatches/fabric swatches
- Logos
- Variety of images from internet or personal collection

DIRECTIONS
You’ve started working for your favorite clothing brand. Because of your age, they task you
to design a mood board and outfit sketches related to teenagers. First, design your mood board to
express yourself and your brand. Next you will sketch three outfits related to your mood board and
your clothing brand.

PART 1
1. Research the mood, style, or attitude of your brand. Think about why your brand is so
popular? How does it relate to teenagers? How can you make it more relatable?

2. Now that you have researched and have some ideas geared toward your brand, develop a
mood board to represent yourself and your brand.

- Some different themes you could incorporate:

- Steampunk
- Casual
- Boho
- classy/elegant
- Sporty
- Pop art

PART 2

1. Now that you have created your mood board, your brand has asked you to design 3 outfits
inspired for teenagers. Think about your favorite outfit, or a dream outfit you have wanted.
How will you incorporate your brand into the outfit?
How to Make an Ugly Doll

Materials Needed:
● Fabric
● Paper
● Pencil/Marker
● Thread
● Straight Pins
● Buttons
● Sewing Needle
● Scissors/Shears
● Fiber Fill (Stuffing)

Instructions:
1. Research images online, choose your favorite for your design. Use the
Ugly Doll Profile to complete a sketch of what you want your doll to look
like. Include embellishments and color in the sketch.
2. Trace a pattern onto white paper. (Make this the size you want your
doll to be)
3. Choose the fabric for the front and back of your pattern.
4. Cut out the pattern and use straight pins to pin the pattern to the front
and back fabric at once.
5. Use fabric shears to cut pattern, front, and back fabric at once.
6. Separate front and back pieces of fabric and add any embellishments
wanted. (Make sure to include all requirements from rubric)
7. Once front and back piece embellishments are complete use straight
pins to line up the front and back fabric pieces.
8. Use a blanket stitch or over stitch to attach the front to the back. Leave
about a 3-inch hole so that you can add stuffing to your doll. You can
use the end of a pencil to place stuffing in hard-to-reach areas.
9. After stuffing your doll, complete your blanket stitch or over stitch to
complete your doll.
10. Complete the profile of your doll. Make sure to add detail.
11. CONGRATULATIONS, you are finished!
