01B Day 2 Language of Algebra

This document contains a detailed lesson plan for a 7th grade mathematics class on algebraic expressions. The lesson plan outlines the objectives to define, illustrate, and differentiate related terms in algebra. It includes the materials, reference text, and procedures for the lesson. The procedures involve introducing the topic, playing a jeopardy game to review the parts of algebraic expressions, and having students explain the topic to absent classmates. An evaluation asks students to identify terms, constants, variables, and other features of algebraic expressions. The lesson aims to help students understand key concepts of algebraic expressions.

DETAILED LESSON PLAN

I. Objectives
A. Content Standards: The learner demonstrates understanding of
key Concepts of algebraic expressions, the properties of real
numbers as applied in linear equations in one variable.

B. Performance Standards: The learner is able to model situations

using oral, written, graphical, and algebraic methods in
solving problems involving algebraic expressions, and linear
equation in one variable.

C. Learning Objectives:
Illustrate s and differentiates related terms in algebra:
a. an where n is a positive integer
b. constants and variables
c. literal coefficients and numerical coefficients
d. Algebraic expressions, terms, and polynomial
e. Number of terms, degree of the term and degree of the
polynomial. (M7AL-IIc-3)

At the end of the 60-minute discussion, the learner should be

able to:
a. Define related terms in Algebra
b. Illustrates related terms in Algebra
c. Differentiate related terms in Algebra

II. Subject Matter: Mathematics 7

A. Topic: Algebraic Expression
B. Sub-Topic: Parts of Algebraic Expression
C. Materials: Laptop, Projector
D. Reference: E Math worktext in Mathematics, pp. 177-185
E. Values Integration: Honesty, Collaboration
III. PROCEDURES
A. BEFORE THE LESSON

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

• Classroom Cleanliness

“Good morning, Class, cleaners Arrange their chairs, cleaners

please clean the room”. will clean the room

• Prayer
"Who wants to volunteer to lead “sir” raised hand and leads
the prayer” the prayer

• Attendance
“Are there any absents today?”
“None sir”
“Very Good”

B. DURING THE LESSON

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
“Yesterday, we discussed about the parts
of algebraic expression”

“Who can identify the parts?” “Sir” *raised hands

“Constant,
Variable, Terms,
Numerical
“Good” Coefficients,
“We also discussed classifications of Literal
polynomial, who can tell me the types of Coefficient, and
polynomials, and how to classify them” Degree”

Student 1
“Sir we have
monomial, which is
a polynomial with
one term”

Student 2
“Sir we also have
binomial, which is
a polynomial with
two terms”

Student 3
“Sir we also have
trinomial, which is
a polynomial with
three terms”

Student 4
“And lastly a
polynomial with 4
and above terms is
to be called
multinomial or
polynomial”

“Good”

“So now we are going to play a game, this

is a group activity so count off 1 to 4”

“Form a circle with your group”

Game: Jeopardy

This game is called jeopardy

“So, you are going to pick a category and

points, the difficulty of the questions “Yes sir”
will vary according to its points, so
choose wisely, clear?”

“Plays the game”

Sample Questions:

(Play the game, until all the categories

are done)

C. AFTER THE LESSON

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
Generalization:

In a ¼ sheet of paper, how will “Answer Varies”

you explain our topic to your
classmates who is absent
today?

IV. Evaluation
Direction: Identify the terms, Constant, Variables, Literal
Coefficient, Numerical Coefficient, and Highest Degree of each
algebraic expression

V. AGREEMENT
Assignment:
The number of kilometers travelled by a bus from Naga to Legazpi
is represented by X. If a motorcycle travelled 100 kilometers
more than the bus, which expression represents the number of
kilometers travelled by the motorcycle?
1. How many algebraic TERMS and what type of polynomial is
it?
2. What is the variable and constants used?
