Research Methodology

Design

This study focused on how the perspective in Mathematics relates to the Grade

11 ABM students, S.Y. 2023-2024 at the University of Bohol. In connection to this, the

researcher utilized a Descriptive Research Design wherein the researcher described

and explained using questionnaires in understanding the perspective of Grade 11 ABM

students in Mathematics, S.Y. 2023-2024. In addition to that, the researcher also used a

Quantitative Research Design, thus providing survey questionnaires as an important

tool for gathering the data.

Respondents

The research study will focus on the perspective of Grade 11 ABM students in

Mathematics, S.Y. 2023-2024 at the University of Bohol, aged 14 to 17 years old. The

respondents of this study will be composed of all the Grade 11 ABM students, S.Y.

2023-2024 in University of Bohol.

Instrument

This study will be distributing a modified questionnaire as an instrument from a

study of Espino et. al (2017) titled “MATHEMATICS ANXIETY AND ITS IMPACT ON

THE COURSE AND CAREER CHOICE OF GRADE 11 STUDENTS” as means of

collecting data.

The perspective of Grade 11 ABM students in Mathematics, S.Y. 2023-2024 is

assessed on a five-point scale in which one (1) corresponds to the highest and four (5)
corresponds as the lowest. The scale is as follows: The first scale replies to a

questionnaire checklist. The second scale replies (1) Strongly Agree, (2) Agree, (3)

Neutral, (4) Disagree, (5) Strongly Disagree. These serve as the anchors for the scale.

To collect the information for the business owner’s profile, a questionnaire checklist was

created. The researcher’s expertise, comprehension, and primary method for collecting

data from the respondents are all reflected in the answer sheet.

Data Gathering Procedure

To ensure the credibility and accuracy of the whole data-gathering process, the

researchers will first secure permission through writing a formal letter that will be given

to the University of Bohol Vice President for Academics, Atty. Marluminah B. Teh and to

the University of Bohol Senior High School Principal, Mrs. Sofia L. Gantalao,

countersigned by the Practical Research Teacher. The researchers will then distribute

the questionnaires to the respondents after the permission is secured.

The questionnaires will delimit to the predetermined respondents selected from

the Grade 11 ABM students of UB Senior High School S.Y. 2023-2024, secured from

the Senior High School department secretary. The respondents in this study will be

explained thoroughly on the basics of answering the items such that their answers will

be used as credible data. Afterwards, their answers will be collected for analysis and

interpretation.

Ethical Consideration
The research methodology and questionnaire will undergo the extensive review

of the University of Bohol- Research Ethics Committee to see that the “do no harm” is

ensured in the whole conduct of the study. Consent from the respondents will be

secured through consent forms and letters will be sent to the respondents containing

the main objective of conducting the study. The respondents signify their agreement to

be in the study by affixing their signature. The respondents will be aware of the

objectives of the research and will be informed that they could stop answering at any

point when they felt that their rights were violated.
