SIM DBS Upload Utility - Upload
•Use SIS to complete the parts list within the service report
™ A parts list that is created in SIS can be integrated with DBS and the service report simultaneously.

™ The PCF (part causing failure) is selected from this parts list.

•Use SIS/STW Parts List to complete the part(s) causing failure section of the
service report
™ Part Number, Part Name, Group Number, Group Name and the SMCS are filled in
automatically. User selects primary and secondary choices and fills in Product In and
Comments.
•Service Meter Units are uploaded to DBS.
•Repair History is Uploaded to DBS.
•Labor and Travel Start and Stop times can be uploaded to DBS.
•Part Causing Failure is uploaded to DBS.
•Multiple segments can be uploaded at once using Notes - Segment.
Information Uploaded to DBS - Characteristics

• The SMU Value will overwrite previous SMU information. A value of


0.0, 0 and blank will not upload and will be ignored by the Upload
Utility.
• All labor information entered will upload to DBS even if it has been
uploaded in a previous report. The upload utility does not compare
information entered previously in DBS.
• All part causing failure information will upload to DBS. The same part
number will upload more than once and will appear more than once in
DBS.
• All Repair Background information will upload and is appended
(added) to information uploaded previously.
• SMU, Part Causing Failure and Repair Background information should
be uploaded at the end of job to avoid uploading duplicate information.
• Labor can be uploaded on a daily basis. Refer to the STW Getting
Started Guide for more information about using the Service Report or
the DBS upload utility.
• Miscellaneous Costs and Mileage can be uploaded to DBS.

Enter SMU’S

Select the correct unit (Hours, Miles, or Kilometers) from the


drop down box and enter the value. A value of 0.0, 0 and blank
is ignored by the upload utility and will not alter the DBS SMU
value - 0.0 is the default value.

Misc. Costs and


Mileage sections
are added. The
sections were split
to make it simpler
to complete
mileage or
miscellaneous
costs. Use
Preferences to
hide either service
report section.
Miscellaneous Mileage

Enter Charge Codes in


Preferences to select
them from the Charge
Codes drop down box.
Select New to add a line to the Mileage section. The Employee ID is inserted if
the STW Login was used. Today’s Date is inserted, correct if necessary.
Complete the Vehicle ID if desired. Enter the Charge Code and distance value
(kilometers or mileage). Refer to the DBS Upload Utility section in this
document for more information about uploading mileage to DBS. Enter the
information manually if the upload utility is not used.
Miscellaneous Costs

Enter Charge Codes in


Preferences to select
them from the Charge
Codes drop down box.

Select New to add a line to the Miscellaneous Costs section. The Employee ID is
inserted if the STW Login was used. Today’s Date is inserted, correct if
necessary. Enter the Charge Code. Complete the Qty field. The description, Cost
and Comments fields do not upload to DBS. Refer to the DBS Upload Utility
section in this document for more information about uploading
miscellaneous costs to DBS. Enter the information manually if the upload utility
is not used.
Send SIS Parts List to STW Service Report

Segment # may be
entered here. The
segment will be
created in the service
report automatically if
it doesn’t exist.

Select “Send to STW Service Report” If integrating with DBS, the


command would read “Process list”. A pop-up window would
appear with the message asking to send to the parts list to the STW
Service Report as well.

Repair Background

Select the gray bar to Expand the

is entered into the expanded
section. Data can be copied and
pasted from previous service
reports, SIS service literature or
typed.

Save the Service Report

•Refer to the Service Report - Starting and


Switching Jobs document for complete save/open
information.
•Use Save As from the STW File Menu to save the
service report so it can be uploaded to DBS.
• A Saved Service Report (XML File) can be
opened with the Service Report Utility if needed.
(A default location can be set up in Preferences.
• Opening a Saved Service Report within STW
(XML file) will open the service report in the
service report utility (outside of STW).
•Use Session > From Report to open the Service
Report within STW 2005A
• A service report must be saved as an XML file to
use the upload utility.

Use the Default Save Location in the Service Report


preferences to set a default folder for the save service report
function. The save window will open to the same folder
each time save is used. Select View and then select
Preferences.

can be shared

Open the Service Report – Standalone Report

Select Open within STW and then select a Service Report XML file. The file will
open the report in the report Utility - standalone. The service report can be
opened from the SMS DBS Upload utility by selecting a report file and then
selecting view. Both methods will open the report in the standalone utility.
Service Report - Standalone

Service Report Utility is standalone and is the same as the service report in STW
except parts cannot be added and ET data cannot be added to the report. All data
can be edited within the standalone report including the serial number.

uploaded to DBS. Apply to Segment permits multiple segment uploads per
service report XML file. Selecting Work Order will require that only one
segment exists in the service report. Repair notes are uploaded to the header.

Hold Ctrl and left click with the mouse button to select individual files to
be uploaded. Multiple files can be uploaded at the same time.

Select one file and then select View to view that service report file in the
service report utility. Select multiple files and select Process Reports to
upload the selected files to DBS.
Information Uploaded to DBS

The SMU, Part Causing Failure, Miscellaneous Costs and


Mileage, Repair Background and the Labor and Travel time
will upload to DBS. The Work Order or Segment cannot be
open within DBS when the service report information is sent to
DBS or the upload utility will error. Transfer out to a different
screen within DBS and the utility will upload OK.
•Labor uploaded to DBS requires approval.
•Miscellaneous Costs and Mileage uploaded to DBS require
repricing the work order.
