3 WORK METHODOLOGY

3.1 M E T H O D O L O G Y FOR PIPE SLEEVES INSTALLATION

3.2 M E T H O D O L O G Y FOR SLAB ON GRADE

INSTALLATION A. UNDERGROUND DRAINAGE SYSTEM

The following systems that can be found under slab on grade are; sanitary line, sewer line, soil
pipe, storm drainage/downspout, vents line and perforated pipe which uses hub less C.I pipe,
bell and spigot, PVC Pipe and R.C pipe. For water line used G.I pipe wrapped with jute sack to
prevent corrosion.

1. Excavate from finish floor line below grade as per approved plan or actual site condition
based on existing Drainage Line.
2. Place saddle to maintain the 1% slope of the embedded pipes at every 1.50 meters clear
distance.
3. Prepare Gravel beddings for embedded pipe to resist the vibration during compaction.
4. Layout PVC, Perforated Pipe or RC Pipe along the line and grade on the top of sand
beddings. Fit the pipe on the shape of the saddle provided. Maintain 1% slope on pipe.
5. For Perforated Pipe, maximum seepage action shall be ensured by wrapping the pipes
With sufficient and approved filter cloth surrounded by ¾” gravel.

6. The exposed pipes, fittings and joints couplings should be visually inspected and
examined.

<PARK MCKINLEY WEST>
3.3 B A L L TEST AND FLOW TEST METHODOLOGY

1. All embedded piping system shall conduct testing before backfilling proceed.
2. Provide opening in every stub out provided with a height of 1m, to be filled with water.
Prepare Ping-Pong ball and a drum full of water for the Flow Test to be conducted.
3. Pour water in the stub out provided to test the system this is to ensure that piping is
free for foreign matters inside, and outfall has to be cleared of obstruction.
4. Drop the Ball signed by the Inspector in every Stub out provided and filled it with water
simultaneously to push the Ping-Pong Ball going to the outlet of the main line. If the ball
does not come out, the slope of the main line does not meet the required 1% slope to
discharge the water from the system.
5. Repair and Re-test if there are any defects or leak.
6. The QA/QC and Inspector must witness the on-going testing.
7. After pipe has been tested, inspected and approved by the engineer, back filling must
proceed. Placed un-suitable back filling materials.

3.4 M E T H O D O L O G Y FOR VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL PIPES AND SUPPORT INSTALLATION

Installation of Vertical for Soil Stack used HDPE and Horizontal Pipes used PVC. Down Spout,
Vent stack, Vent line for sanitary line used PVC Pipe. G.I and PPR Pipe are used for Water
line Riser and supply.

1. During Installation of pipes support and hangers are needed to hold the pipe while
installing. This is to avoid movement of the pipes to be installed. Hangers are used to the
pipe installed horizontally with maximum of 1.5 space while bracket and braces to the
pipe installed vertically. The space for adjustable wrought iron and malleable iron pipe is
3.0m apart. While hub less, bell and spigot soil pipe hanger spaced not over 1.3m apart
and located near the hub. For vertical pipe bracket spaced not more than 9m apart.
2. The arrangement, position and connection of all pipes, drains, and valve must be checked
before tapping.

a. Fo r tapping PVC cement solvent are used to connect pipes. Provide stub out for
clean out, sanitary line, vent line etc.. While upon installation of waterline welding
machine or Fusion machine are used to unite the pipes. Plug out the end of the
pipe.
b. In using Cast Iron Pipe, Stainless Coupling with gasket is used as a joint connection
Of the pipe. It should be properly tightened to avoid leak at the joints.
c. F o r FCU drain pipe, Rubber insulation with blue tape is applied to absorb the
moisture content.
d. All stacks shall be anchored on walls and columns using the required support or

Braces. Plumbness of all exposed downspouts shall be observed and check.
e. For horizontal pipe make sure that the minimum of 1% slope are maintain, this is
to ensure easy circulation of the system.

8. If defective fittings found, it should be remove and replace.
9. If leak found on the joints, it should be repair.
10. Repair and retest until such portion or section satisfactory passed the test.
11. Release water from the system and tap to the tapping point. Flushing of water will test
the tapping point.

B. DOWNSPOUT

1. Testing is conducted every three (3) floors

2. Plug tightly all necessary stub-outs opening.
3. Provide enough support at the bottom end of the pipeline to be tested.
4. Pour water at the highest point of the pipeline allowing air to escape and until water to flow
over.
5. During the span of one (1) hours, there should be no drop of more than 10mm.
6. All joints and connection must be check if free of leakage.
7. If defective fittings found, it should be remove and replace.
8. If leak found on the joints, it should be repair.
9. Repair and retest until such portion or section satisfactory passed the test.
10. Release water from the system and tap to the tapping point. Flushing of water will test
the tapping point.

3.14 S E C O N D FIX INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION OF PLUMBING FIXTURES
