POEM: TURN OFF THE TV

SYNOPSIS:
‘Turn off the TV ’ by Bruce Lansky is a humorous poem in which the poet describes his
parents’ reaction when they catch him watching television secretly. The father gets quite
mad at the poet and asks him to turn it off. The mother is upset and asks him to study
instead. The father also warns the poet that if he didn’t turn off the TV , he would hang it
from a tree. To which, the poet mockingly says that the father would never do so as he
watched it more than him.
