represented a critical danger to the jeopardized green Labeo species at the
venture site. has happened.
In order to protect the ecological environment of the project site unless
permanent works and storage, Processing areas and camps are required all
trees, saplings and shrubs should be protected by the contractor during
operation to avoid unnecessary damage of the contractor so as to protect the
natural landscape as much as possible. After inevitable damages it is necessary
to reseed or restore in time to prevent further damage and the quasi-original
condition shall be restored under appropriate circumstances. Without
treatment, the sewage and pollutants during construction are prohibited from
entering streams and dust during treatment or transportation should be
minimized by water sprinkling or other methods. The fish ladder is specially
designed for the dam which is used for fish migration upstream and
downstream the dam.

Health and Safety Activities
Construction hazards come in many forms and it is essential to implement the
health and safety guidelines issued by the Sri Lankan Ministry of Labor. This
guide describes typical possible hazards and what you can do to avoid them.
All qualified operators engaged in the operation of heavy equipment such as
excavators and earthmoving vehicles. All cut slopes, fills, and other erosion-
prone work areas must be stabilized to the extent practicable to complete the
work. All excavated soil should be brought to the landfill as soon as possible
without accumulating near the work area. Care should be taken in handling
excavated loose material before handling it for compaction or disposal,
especially if it is stored on relatively flat ground. A safe slope must be
maintained during and immediately after excavation to avoid personal injury
or property damage from embankment or rock crevices. Strict material
handling requirements and guidelines must be included in contract documents,
especially when it comes to earthworks. Use controlled blasting methods and
proper support and drainage systems designed and supervised by a qualified
engineer during tunnel construction. To prevent accidents caused by noise,
toxic gases, dust, fire and smoke, an occupational safety and health plan
should be developed before starting tunnel construction. Mosquito breeding
sites such as ponds, depressions, and shallow water areas should be backfilled
with extra excavation.
During the operational phase, an oil spill from the Bowser could bring fuel into
the internal tanks in the event of an accident or the like. Although the risk of
accidental spills and subsequent adverse effects from improper storage and
transportation is small, it is still essential to take the necessary measures to
minimize or prevent significant releases. However, Sri Lanka currently does not
have adequate laws regarding the safe storage and transportation of such
hazardous materials. However, the following basic measures should be
implemented to prevent possible spills from vehicles transporting dangerous
goods:

21 | P a g e
• Tank-mounted pressure relief devices and other safety devices must be in
good condition.
• Enforcement of strict speed limits is very important and violations carry hefty
fines
• Bowers transporting kerosene must ensure that such vehicles are adequately
sealed to prevent spillage or loss of contents. For example, pressure outlets
should be checked to make sure they are properly plugged with an empty
flange or cap on the outside of the pressure valve.
• Store hoses to prevent fluid leakage during transportation.
In addition, power station authorities will take the necessary steps to safely
store any hazardous materials that may be brought to the site. To this end, it is
paramount that power station authorities employ individuals who are qualified
and have extensive experience in safely storing and transporting hazardous
materials. Alternatively, you should seek professional advice or assistance from
a person or reputable organization with sufficient knowledge and experience
in handling hazardous materials or hazardous materials. The nearest hospital is
in Ulapane. A suitable vehicle with a driver to remain on site and transport the
injured or sick to the hospital if necessary. In addition, first aid kits are installed
at key points on site to treat injuries, and staff are trained in emergency care.

22 | P a g e
Conclusion
After visiting the site and experiencing the actual work space and construction
environment, I realized that the work was very different from the actual site,
such as the extreme heat and the presence of dangers, and that it was hard
work. This site visit will help you gain practical knowledge that cannot be
obtained from theoretical knowledge. It also has a theoretical side and a
practical side can be distinguished. Construction techniques and how they
were used on site. Safety is one of the most important things I learned on a
construction site.
During the site visit I can get better understanding of a safety with the site
conditions. The communication is also important condition, and it can improve
by communicating with team members while surveying the site. Teamwork is
very important to complete the project on time with good quality and within
the budget.
Furthermore, I have learnt many things about construction equipment and
construction materials. And learnt about construction processes. Finally, I
believe that this site visit is a very worthwhile one to be in. since this site visit is
the first chance, I must visit a construction site. I really hope to be given a
similar chance in the near distant future as it not only enhances my knowledge
on the materials and technologies it also is beneficial to my future.
