ABSTRACT

The covid-19 pandemic has radically affected life for

almost everyone around the globe and makers are no exception. With
everyone being more careful of their interactions with humans and objects
personal hygiene has taken serious precedence over all other factors in
public space a lot of public places have hand sanitizer for visitor, but
they need to be manually pressed

To avoid any contact at all, some no touch hand sanitizer dispensers

are commericially available, but they are expensive and most-off the
shelf commercial sanitizers cannot be automated. In this project we
create a contactless hand sanitizer dispenser that can be used for any
press to release hand sanitizer available in the market

INTRODUCTION
Hygiene is an important aspect to remain healthy. There are various
aspects of hygiene. A clean hand is one of them. Hands generally are
touched at various surfaces and can be exposed to direct contamination.
Cleaning hands at regular interval is recommended by various health
organizations including WHO. Demand for hand sanitizers has surged since
the coronavirus broke out and spread around the world. Hand sanitizers are
usually applied by squirting the sanitizer liquid when one presses a pump
with one’shand. This causes many people to come into contact with the
pump handle, which increases the risk of viral transmission. Some
hand sanitizers on the market are automatically pumped. However,
because sanitizer containers and pump devices are designed to be
compatible only between products produced by the same manufacturer,
consumers must also repurchase the container for the liquid if they replace
the hand sanitizer. Therefore, this paper suggests the design of an
automatic hand sanitizer system compatible with various sanitizer
containers.
alcohol-based hand sanitizers are increasingly being used instead of soap
and water for hand hygiene in healthcare settings. Poor or inadequate
hand washing and/or hand hygiene is known to be problematic in
hospital settings, and is a major source of infections contracted
while patients are admitted to a hospital. While hand washing and
hygiene policies and training are important and can be effective in
reducing the spread of infections, the problem of infections due to
unsatisfactory hygiene of staff, medical professionals, and even patients
continues to be problematic. It is known to place hand washing
stations and hand sanitizer dispensers throughout medical facilities
including in examination rooms, hallways, lobbies, and even patient
5
rooms.

LITREATURE SURVEY
The idea for the first automated dispenser was submitted by Guey-
Chaun Shiau to be patented in 1989. The patent was under the name,
"Automatic Cleaning-liquid Dispensing Device". The patent was issued
in 1991. The patented device was under the following description: "An
automatic cleaning- fluid dispensing device includes: a containing structure
for containing cleaning fluid; a sensing device disposed on a base member
being installed in the lower portion of said containing structure wherein
said base member is provided with an outlet, a sensing circuit
disposed on a circuit board, a motor arrangement electrically
connected to the sensing circuit, an outlet for passing a light source
of the sensing circuit therefrom so as to detect the presence of an
external object closing on the light source; and a dispensing mechanism,
which is composed of a push structure functionally connected with the driving
motor and a pumping structure operatively engaged with the push structure,
installed on the base member in connection with the sensing device;
whereby when an external object closes to the sensing device, a
given amount of the contained cleaning fluid in the containing structure
will be automatically supplied for cleaning purposes.

PROPOSED SYSTEM
COMPONENTS
1)PROXIMITY SENSOR
A proximity sensor is a non-contact sensor that detects the presence of
6
an

6
object (often referred to as the “target”)when the target enters the
sensor's field. ... An inductive proximity sensor can only detect metal
targets. This is because the sensor utilizes an electromagnetic field.

1 2)PUMP

A submersible pump pushes sanitizer to the surface by converting

rotary energy into kinetic energy into pressure energy. This is done by the
sanitizer being pulled into the pump: first in the intake, where the
rotation of the impeller pushes the sanitizer through the diffuser. From
there, it goes to the

7
surface. Fi

4)TRANSISTOR- BC 557
The comparator circuit drives a medium power transistor to control one
small dc water pump to deliver a liquid preparation having an antiseptic or
medicinal action when applied to the hand.

8)BATTERY CHARGING MODULE
TP4056 module is a linear charger lithium-ion batteries. This module
can charge batteries consists of single cells. ... Therefore, chargers are
used to charge them by putting energy into them. TP4056 is also a
battery charger that has a fixed charge voltage of 4.2 volts.

WORKING
The Automatic Sanitizer Dispenser is an infrared motion sensor-
based dispenser. It used to dispense any alcohol-based sanitizer. It has a
touch-less operation, which makes people fearless and more confident
about the sanitization process. It is also known as a touch-less or contact-
less sanitizer dispenser. Due to the inbuilt motion sensor, it senses the
hand motion below the brass nozzle and opens the valve to dispense
sanitizer. As per the set timer, it only allows 1ml liquid at one time. In the
time of the world pandemic COVID 19, the automatic hand sanitizer
dispenser is an essential product to kill the effect of corona virus.
When we need to have the sanitizer or wash our hands, the user’shands
are placed under the nozzle and before the sensor. The activated
sensor will further activate a pump that dispenses a specific amount of
sanitizer from the nozzle. Modern sensors used in electronic faucets,
electronic flush valves and electronic soap dispensers use Infrared light with
wavelength in the range of

12
12
850 nm. The sensor employs an emitter and a collector. The emitter
emits pulses of infrared light while the collector, which is positioned to
face in the same direction as the emitter, "sits" dormant waiting to
sense the emitted pulses. When no hands are present in front of the
device, no reflection of light takes place, and therefore, no pulse is sensed.
When hands are present in the path of the emitted light, a portions of the
emitted infrared light is bounced back in the direction of the collector
which then becomes excited by the light (in the event a photodiode is used)
and generates voltage to switch the pump on. If a photo transistor is utilized,
then the photo transistor, upon sensing the infrared pulse, will simply
switch the pump on and dispense the sanitizer or liquid .Infrared sensors
detect infrared energy that is emitted by one’sbody heat. When hands
are placed in the proximity of the sensor, the infrared energy quickly
fluctuates. This fluctuation triggers the pump to activate and dispense the
designated amount of sanitizer.A rechargeable battery and charging
module is used for when the power supply is off.

ADVANTAGES
. The first and foremost advantage of an automatic sanitizer dispenser
is
that it provides a truly touchless experience. There is no hassle
of pressing a button or a handle (as in the case of foot-operated
ones). These dispensers have ultrasonic sensors that release the
sanitizer once you keep your hands below the nozzle. It’sfast, safe,
and simply more efficient.
. For every appliance, the ease of use is what determines its
feasibility.

13
While choosing a sanitizer dispenser, you will want something that will
be easy to use, unlike the manual ones.

13
. Automatic hand sanitizer dispensers are better than the traditional
ones
as they dispense the sanitizer automatically. You don’thave to
apply physical pressure on the dispenser; just place your hands
under the nozzle, and it provides the right amount.

. Manual hand sanitizers require pushing the pump to release

sanitizer.
Touching the pump can spread a lot of germs, as people with dirty
hands also use it.

. An automatic hand sanitizer dispenser machine is that it offers

a standard amount that is enough to clean both hands.

CONCLUSION
Hand sanitizers usually operate by squirting sanitizer liquid when one
presses a pump with one’shand. Some hand sanitizers on the market are
automatically pumped. However, sanitizer containers and pump devices are
designed to be compatible only between products produced by the same
manufacturer. To address this problem, we have designed an automatic
hand sanitizer system that is compatible with various containers. With
the proposed device, it is possible to avoid many people coming into
contact with the pump handle, thus preventing fomite viral transmission
and making the use of hand sanitizer much more convenient. Moreover,
the system squirts a certain amount of hand sanitizer at all times, making
it easy to manage refills and replacement. Furthermore, it can operate
compatibly with various designs of sanitizer containers, so consumers do
not need repurchase a container for the liquid if they replace the hand
sanitizer. Thus, it is economical and eco-friendly by decreasing waste

14
emissions. The automatic hand sanitizer device proposed by this paper is
ultimately expected to contribute to contactless hand disinfection

14
in public places and virus infection prevention.
