– Issues:
1. Netflix application on TV would not connect – not get the NETFLIX logo. After a few seconds
the TV would revert to input it was on before the Netflix application was selected.
2. The TV would not network update its’ software. It would attempt and then report that no
update was necessary. Version 2.14 was displayed in Information – Identification ‐ which is
quite old.
3. The TV would not accept the downloaded and unzipped file install.img_secure_v3.6.9_full
3a. Sharp’s instructions do not say that you have to rename the file.
4. The on TV E‐Manual did not display the menu bar on the left of the screen with any language
(verbiage).
5. This TV has exhibited the arbitrary power off phenomenon randomly

The USB drive you are going to use must be formatted FAT32
Go to http://www.sharpusa.com/Support/ProductDetail.aspx?model=LC‐65LE654U
The firmware is on the left side down the page. The not working instructions are on the right side low.
The downloaded file TEL_SOFT_LE653U_LE654U_V369.ZIP must be extracted to the root directory of the
USB drive.
The file that is unzipped (install.img_secure_v3.6.9_full) must be renamed install.img To do this, right
click on the file and select properties. Delete the highlighted portion of the file name and select OK
(windows 7)
Note: In some windows folders – the file extensions are hidden. You must unhide the extensions by de‐
selecting “Hide extensions for known file types”. If you have trouble with this search “hide folder
extensions” on the web for your particular version of windows.
The file that the TV will work with (install.img) has to be located in the root directory of the USB memory
stick. Root directory means the top level and NOT in another folder. When you access the USB
memory stick – you have to be able to see install.img without going any farther.
5. Insert the USB memory stick into the TV’s USB port.
6. Plug in the TV
7. Sharp’s instructions say that the TV will power on after 1‐3 minutes. This did not work on my
set. After about 5 minutes, I turned the TV on with the remote.
8. I went to MENU – Information – Software Update – Manual Update – USB Update
9. The TV immediately accessed the USB stick and after approximately 5 minutes rebooted
10. When the TV comes back on – it is in the initialization mode and that process was followed.
11. All functionality was restored – the software was confirmed installed 3.6.9
12. Netflix is functioning again – I had to sign into Netflix but that was no issue.
13. The E‐Manual is functional also
