Luneta Park, formerly known as the Bagumbayan, has become one of our country's most
cherished sights. It is now a heritage treasures site that depicts the rich history of the Philippines. This
landmark is the one I pick to travel with because it is one of my favorite places when we are staying in
Manila. Taking a virtual fieldtrip through the Genyo portal has made me realize that Luneta Park is more
than just a park. The place is full of memories of history that every Filipino should know.
The Luneta Park was attributed to our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. Knowing historical events is a
must for us. We must all know that Dr. Jose Rizal is willing to die and sacrifice his life for his beloved
country. His sacrifices must not go in vain; his words were meant for us. For us to realize something
about our country. "Ang hindi magmahal sa sariling wika ay higit sa hayop at malansang isda; kaya ating
pagyamaning kusa, gaya ng inang sa atin ay nagpala." His words are not just meant for the people with
whom he talked at that time; they are meant for the future people of the Philippines. It was also meant
for the next generation, which is us. One thing I learned in exploring the virtual fieldtrip was that you
should not just visit a place to find good statues or to take a picture. It was also a reminder for us to not
forget how our heroes and all of the Filipinos died for us to have freedom.
Virtual fieldtrip helps me to learn new knowledge like the kilometer zero. Kilometer Zero acts as a
reference point for measuring road distances from Manila. Luneta Park, or Rizal Park, is not just a park
for us to visit. It is a place where we should pay tribute to our hero, who sacrifice his own life for the
country.
