Data Visualization: by Isha Aggarwal

The document discusses visualizing a sample superstore dataset using Tableau. It provides 10 questions asking to create various charts in Tableau, including bar charts, pie charts, bubble charts, tree maps, and cross tabulations. The interpretations summarize how each chart type was used to visualize specific metrics like total profit by region, product-wise sales and profits, and subcategory profits. The conclusion states that basic charts in Tableau were used to analyze the dataset and provide business insights.

DATA VISUALIZATION BY ISHA

AGGARWAL
ASSIGNMENT-1
Roll No. 2022-3005-0001-
0001
ASSIGNMENT-1
DATA VISULIZATION
TITLE: BASIC CHARTS
The sample superstore Dataset includes data for the Sales of multiple products
sold by a company along with subsequent information related to geography,
Product categories, and subcategories, sales, and profits, segmentation amongst
the consumers, etc. This sample Dataset presents a common use case for
Tableau, in which the users are interested in gathering useful insights from the
Sales data in order to improve the Marketing and Sales strategies.

Question:1 Understand this dataset. Write about your understanding?

Interpretation: The Sample Super store dataset contains information on the
sales of various products that a company sells, as well as data on location,
product categories and subcategories, sales and profits, consumer segmentation,
and other topics.
According to this instance, I've seen that we may simulate using this data and
carry out significant data analysis to provide ideas on how the business might
boost earnings while reducing losses.
With the help of this information, we were able to determine which categories
generated the most money, which products generated the most sales, and how
much products were returned by area.
By analysing the data, a company may create its marketing plans and segment
the market based on the sales, revenue, and profitability of each product in a
certain area. They can easily meet the needs of the customer since they can
generate more sales, understand the customer's purchasing habits, and more.
Question:2 Load SuperStore-2015.xlsx into Tableau

Interpretation:
With the aid of Tableau, we can quickly analyse the data to meet our needs.
Knowing the personalised graph will be quite beneficial for helping us
comprehend the facts clearly. The programme called Tableau makes the process
of data visualisation very simple. It is merely a drag-and-drop game that allows
you to view data in accordance with your needs and provide some crucial and
pertinent insights that aid in understanding the data.

Steps of load the data set into the tableau:

1. Locate the tableau text file connector.
2. Choose the tableau Excel connector.
3. Import the desired Excel file from your system.
4. Configure the tableau Excel Text file properties.
Question:3 Using Super Store identify the office supply category where top 3
customers have negative profits using bar chart.

Interpretation:
With the use of Tableau, we can simply separate the data in this question and
visualise it in the proper way. Luke Foster is the first person in the above figure
to make the most negative profit. Everybody in this business makes some
money, but we need to identify the top 3 clients who are losing money on office
supplies. Hence, we group the categories first before determining the
profitability of each individual grouping. By this, we may discover the top three
individuals who made the most money in office supplies and visualise each
individual's profit by category.
Question 4: Create a pie chart showing the region wise total profit.

Interpretation:
In order to conduct visualisation for this query, we need to know the region-by-
region total profit. To accomplish this, we just generate the region-by-region
data visualisation and then label the profit. in order to obtain the region's overall
profit. The organisation learned which location generates the most profit with
the use of this data visualisation, enabling them to develop product-specific
marketing tactics appropriately.
Question:5 Create a multiple bar diagram showing the product wise total
profit and total sale.

Interpretation:
In order to understand multiple bar diagrams, we must first understand that they
are similar to conventional bar graphs with the exception that each category has
two or more bars, one for each subdivision.
The total sale and profit for each product can be visualised with the aid of this
multiple bar diagram. so that we can quickly determine which product generated
the most revenue and sales during that time, as well as quickly analyse which
product generated the most profit relative to sales and which product generated
losses or was

otherwise not growing. As a result, the corporation will develop that product
and make decisions in line with it.
Question 6: Create a bubble chart showing the total profit.

Interpretation:
In order to give viewers additional information, bubble charts—also known as
bubble plots or bubble graphs—are employed when data requires a third
dimension. A relational chart with three variables is called a bubble plot.
A bubble chart is depicted on two axes (x and y), and the size of the bubble
communicates the third, crucial piece of information, unlike other three-
dimensional charts that process and represent data over three axes (often x, y,
and z).
since we are already aware of the bubble Chart. In this issue, we present the
total earnings broken down by region using a bubble chart, which provides
additional information. Hence, the west area in this region makes more profit
than other regions while the south region makes less profit.
Question 7: Create a Tree map showing the total profit.

Interpretation:
In Tableau, a fundamental chart type known as a tree map is displayed as nested
rectangular boxes. Large datasets can be seen with this chart. The graph known
as a tree map can be used to mark hierarchical data for comparison analysis.
The tree map graphic is crucial for analysing the data set's oddities.
since we've already used a bubble chart to visualize the data regarding regional
profit. These are Tableau's fundamental charts, which enable us to visualize the
data appropriately. The main distinction between the two maps is that the tree
map created a hierarchical relationship between the data, whilst the bubble chart
is useful when there is a third dimension.
Question 8: Create a basic cross tabulation showing region wise and product
wise total profit.

Interpretation:
A contingency table in statistics is a type of matrix-format table that shows the
(multivariate) frequency distribution of the variables. It is often referred to as a
cross tabulation or crosstab. They are extensively utilized in scientific,
engineering, business intelligence, and survey research.
Considering that cross tabulation is employed in research, we already know this.
It made use of multiple variables so that we could conduct business intelligence
research with their aid. To analyse every aspect of the dataset, we can use a
cross tabulation with one dependent variable, several independent variables, and
one dependent variable. To discover which product loose money and which
ones make money, we performed a cross-tabulation of overall profits by region
and product in this issue.
Question 9: Create a Region wise and state-wise total sell and total profit report
using cross tabulation

Interpretation:
In order to determine which state makes more sales and more profit in a given
region, we calculated total sales and profits by state and region in this problem.
Because it provides all the information needed for research, a corporation can
utilize it to find out relevant and useful information as well as anticipate the
future using this data. As in this Statistics, Texas saw losses in sales and made
little money in central region.
Question 10: Create a Bar chart showing sub category wise profit.

Interpretation:
We used a bar chart to illustrate the subcategory-wise profit in this challenge
since we are aware that it is the best and simplest approach to display data
through charts in general. A bar chart that contrasts various statistics between
groupings.
In this data, copiers produce the highest level of profit.
Conclusion:
This super store dataset includes data on region, product categories,
subcategories, sales, profits, and consumer segmentation. As a result, we used
tableau to create the basic charts you see there, including a bar chart, tree map,
pie chart, multiple bar diagram, and cross tabulation. We performed data
visualization using these charts in a way that will assist the business in
developing insightful conclusions from sales data, as well as more imaginative
marketing and sales strategies.
