Instructions Changing 1 Safety Module B&R: With The Machine Powered Down Replace The Faulty Module

Replace the faulty safety module B&R X20LS8001 located in the winder cabinet. Check that all connections are correct and safety contacts are in the proper position. Power on the machine and select position 1 to confirm the module exchange. Press the confirmation button for 0.5-5 seconds to acknowledge the firmware change, then select FW-ACKN and press the button again to confirm. Test the safety plc functionality.

Instructions changing 1 safety module B&R

With the machine powered down replace the faulty module

Locate the safety plc X20LS8001, in the case of Ryston you will find it in the winder cabinet
With the module replaced and all connections made
Make sure all safety contacts wired into the module that was replaced are as they should be
open contacts are open and closed contacts are closed.
Power the machine on, wait for it to power up
With the machine powered up move de selection switch to position 1
This to make clear that 1 module was exchanged.

the enter LED is lit up

To confirm this exchange press the confirmation button for 0.5-5


seconds.
when you release the button after 0.5-5 seconds the enter
LED will blink once more for 0.8seconds.
If you press shorter than 0.5 seconds nothing will happen
If you press longer than 5 seconds the enter LED will blink signaling a faulty operation

the FW_ACKN led is blinking signaling a firmware change

turn the selection switch to FW-ACKN


This to acknowledge that a firmware change has happened

To confirm the firmware was changed press the confirmation button


for 0.5-5 seconds.
The module is now acknowledged in the firmware
Test the safety plc extensively making sure all safety contacts work and it is possible to
reset the safety plc using the normal reset E-stop button when all guards are closed and E-
stop buttons aren’t pressed, hence the machine is not in an E-stop state.
