ABSTRACT

This study entitled "Online Stock Tracker and Navigation for the Bicycle Shop of

Cauayan City" aimed to develop and implement the proposed system. It aims to help the

customers of the bicycle shop track the availability of bicycles and accessories. The researchers

added the map to navigate and find a route to the shop.

The researchers used a Likert scale questionnaire to evaluate the developed system and

its benefits. To determine the weighted mean and reveal the result of the developed system's

performance and assess its improvement.

The researchers conducted the proposed project to evaluate the developed system by the

respondents based on ISO 25010 standards: Functional, Performance Efficiency, Compatibility,

Usability, Reliability, Security, Maintainability, and Portability.

After analyzing the gathered data, the result is mostly "strongly agree," while other

properties are in the scale of "agree" based on the respondent's response to the questionnaires

that are gathered and analyzed. The proposed developed system is good to use after showing the

final results of the collected data, and it will benefit the user who will use the feature of the

system.

The result shows that the developed system works correctly and meets the expected

performance of using the web app system. The system is expected to benefit the agencies and the

customers, especially using the features that are included in the web application. All respondents

agreed that the system would help the people using the developed system, the Online Stock

Tracker and Navigation System, a proposed research project.

CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION

PROJECT CONTEXT

Bicycle sales are increasing these days because they are bored due to the pandemic.

Buying a model of your choice bicycle can be hard to find, especially when the supply is few.

With the use of a personalized google map, it will locate the bicycle shop and provide the route to

the shop.

Bicycle shops are continually expanding because of demand. Especially nowadays,

gasoline prices have plunged, and you can use bicycles when traveling near areas or riding with

relatives and friends. On roads, they already have a designated path for bicycle riders, which is

safer because it is separated from other vehicles.

Traveling to another town to search for the model of bicycle you want and ending up

being out of stock or already sold is frustrating. Also, buyers need help finding a bicycle shop

where they can use the system. With personalized Google Maps, you don't need to visit the

bicycle shop. You can check it with the system, and if you find the model and bicycle shop you

want, that is the only time you will need to go to that shop.

Hence, we conduct this study to lessen and save bicycle buyers' time and money. With

the use of the system, they can manage to search for the model that they want if it's still available

or out of stock. Also, the system will provide the bicycle shop's location that the buyers don't

need to ask for.

CHAPTER II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

Bicycles are so popular nowadays because of the effects of covid lockdowns and

increasing prices of gasoline, it become essential to use bicycle for commuting, exercising, and

for racing that the government created a road for bicycles because of the increasing of bicycle

user at the road and almost a new mandatory rule was happened to register and install plate

number to each bike, but it never happened yet to most community. The local bike shops have

different kind of bike and models that might be liked by the consumer, and the shop need to

develop a new strategy to increase its profit.

Massive Sales of Bike Shop during Pandemic

According to (TRIOLA, 2020), because of pandemic, bike shop have been declared

“essential,” the sales of the bike shop have been change and booming because of massive

customers waiting in line to buy bike and other items, where the bike shop owner didn’t expect

that his business will be in demand and facing a new problem which it’s too much business and

need to rehire his staffs, this is what he say “It’s mind-blowing, what I’ve been seeing,” Smith

said of the soaring bike sales. “I never even dreamed that there’d be a line of people waiting to

come into my store. Pretty much the whole eight hours a day we’re open, there’s anywhere from

five to 20 people waiting outside. It’s just constant.” Also, according to (The NPD Group, 2020),

“children’s and adult leisure bicycles have seen double- and triple-digit sales increases” sales of

indoor cycling equipment (such as rollers and trainers) have increased by more than 268 percent

among American consumers.

(Wesolowski, 2015) In Portland, Oregon, is one such city and has for many years been

considered a model for bicycle transportation infrastructure in this country. As more and more

Bachelor of Science in Information Technology 13

ISABELA STATE UNIVERSITY
Cauayan City, Isabela
COLLEGE OF COMPUTING STUDIES, INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

individuals choose to ride bikes (for any number of reasons), there is a growing need for access to

bicycles, bicycle parts and accessories, as well as expertise in their maintenance and repair.

Neighborhood bike shops exist for this very reason.

Benefits of Blogging to Online Bike Website

According to (Jackie, 2022), for an online bike company, a blog is a need. A website that

offers bikes, in particular, ought to include a blog where your authors will produce entertaining,

informative, and excellent content about bicycles. This will keep your present customers reading

your content frequently, keeping them as devoted customers in addition to bringing in new ones.

If you interact with the cycling community in any way, your online bike business will look much

more professional.

Benefits of Mapping and Live-tracker of the Shop

According to (Needle, 2020), the search results of Google Maps will give enough

information in each shop like reviews, ratings, photos, and location information. Google Maps

marketing is beneficial for large and small businesses alike, especially because of Google Maps

Local 3-Pack. Local 3-Pack is the first three businesses shown in search results that Google

considers to be most relevant based on a user's current location or the location where they’re

searching.

According to (Johnson, 2014), real-time tracking makes it possible for business owners to

successfully control these costs by cutting down on idle hours, enhancing dispatching and

routing, monitoring speed, and receiving alerts for when vehicle maintenance is required. Also

(Locate2u, 2021), with the help of GPS tracking, you can give your customers visibility into the

exact location of their orders, allowing them to schedule their days in accordance with the

Bachelor of Science in Information Technology 14

ISABELA STATE UNIVERSITY
Cauayan City, Isabela
COLLEGE OF COMPUTING STUDIES, INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

anticipated delivery time. Using GPS is a terrific approach to increase the productivity,

efficiency, and security of your company.

According to (Spillane, 2019), customers still prefer the website for online information.

In fact, having a store locator on your website is more than essential for any business for various

reasons. And integrating it into an omnichannel yields positive results. Indeed, around 75% of

customers make their own online research before heading out to a physical store. As you know

when customers are driven to buy something, time is of the essence. Store locators are a great

way to provide updated, relevant information to customers instantly. And to this day, store

locators can become more than an address book. Customers would often search for local store

locations online. In fact, this is one of the most common searches on Google. In addition, having

business details like your name, phone number, and address allow your customers the prerogative

to engage with your business however they choose. But having store locators enriches your

content even more. The key for searchability is having essential content. And more content means

more customers. Thus, a store locator surely upscales your business searchability. Products lists

allow customers to canvas for their desired price range of products. This is a time-efficient habit

that customers employ when shopping. However, price ranges, sale offers, and store bonuses may

differ from one store to another. Yet a store locator can solve that problem easily. By having a

page dedicated to store locations, and linking them to their local pages or local numbers, your

website saves time for both your business and your customers. In fact, this extended amount of

convenience solidifies customer loyalty. Store locators can also help customers find out if the

item they want is available in their local store again, saving time for your customers. It’s much

better than having no choice but to go there, only to find out the items isn’t available.

Benefits of Analytics

According to (Keenan, 2021) article about the importance of ecommerce analytics, Craig

Hewitt, CEO of podcast analytics software Castos, feels that analytics solves the problem of not

knowing how to use marketing data to drive business growth. “Marketers often have a lot of data

about their customers, but struggle to use it effectively. Without the insights offered

by ecommerce analytics, they’ll struggle to create a marketing strategy that brings consistent

results.” While it stated that analytics are as much about art as they are about science. A good

data analyst can tell you a story from the thousands of clicks, visits, bounces, seconds spent,

conversions, and other data points they observe. Data points can tell you a story about the total

number of visitors to your site in a given week. For example, maybe only 50% enjoyed your

website enough to even spend more than a few seconds on it. And maybe only half of those who

stayed actually made a purchase, while another 10% got stuck at the checkout page, became

frustrated, and left. Analytics help you measure marketing performance and improve decision

making, so you can become a more strategic business.

Additionally, according to (Gogineni, 2022), Analytics for ecommerce merchants helps

them determine future trends based on several factors including the size of transactions, the

season, category of products and so on. Such analysis is useful in determining what future sales

will look like and helps the merchant in determining what products they need to focus on,

whether they need to readjust their inventory, what marketing tactics they need to deploy to

promote certain products and what promotions to offer on different products.

Methods on Evaluating the System Properties

The study use ISO/IEC 25010 as a recommended methodology in evaluating the

performance of the system, and it provides a set of quality characteristics that be compared to the

Bachelor of Science in Information Technology 16

ISABELA STATE UNIVERSITY
Cauayan City, Isabela
COLLEGE OF COMPUTING STUDIES, INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

completeness of the software product, this method will be used to improve our system

performance. The study used the format of ISO/IEC 25010 as a reference in our pre-survey

questionnaire and post-survey questionnaire to identify and measure the quality of our system and

the problems of the study. According to (Estdale & Georgiadou, 2018), ISO/IEC 25010: 2011

provides the leading models for assessing software product. This is an important contribution

towards establishing the delivery performance of software processes and proposed improvements.

This paper explores the scope and interpretation of the ISO/IEC 25010 quality models, in the

light of this broad, lifetime service-oriented view, also identifying other significant aspects of

product that concern acquirers of software, and for which quality requirements and quality

evaluation are potentially needed. Suggestions for refinement and extension of the standard

complete the paper.

Personal Informatics History

According to Epstein et al. (2020) systems for collecting and reflecting on self-tracked

data have a long history in HCI. Houston and UbiFit aimed to help people make sense of their

physical activity on their mobile devices. Early systems also examined how public displays of

tracked information could help facilitate accountability and awareness, such as Fish’n’Steps for

physical activity and the Whereabouts Clock for location Other early systems tracked needs and

challenges in other domains like diet and sustainability Similar to the fields of study of

lifelogging and Personal Information Management personal informatics systems often aim to

support people in collecting and maintaining a record of their habits.

Bicycle as transportation

Cities worldwide are scrambling for sustainable solutions to their inefficient, car-centric

transport systems. One promising, time-tested candidate is cycling. It is an efficient mode of

Bachelor of Science in Information Technology 17

ISABELA STATE UNIVERSITY
Cauayan City, Isabela
COLLEGE OF COMPUTING STUDIES, INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

sustainable urban transport that can account for the majority of intra-urban trips which are

primarily short or medium-distance. Cost-benefit analysis that accounts for health, pollution, and

climate, reveals that in the EU alone cycling brings a yearly benefit worth € 24 billion while

automobility costs society € 500 billion. These insights provide further impetus for coordinated

efforts to extend cycling infrastructure as one solution to the urban transport crisis and to

effectively fight climate change. Apart from being effective, this solution is also considerably

more economic and wide-ranging than merely focusing on motor vehicle electrification.

Demand-driven design of bicycle infrastructure

Human mobility critically depends on the existing infrastructure underlying it. The

transition to more sustainable mobility in particular requires a sufficiently developed

infrastructure to promote, for example, cycling over motorized mobility for short and medium-

distance intra-urban trips. During the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of cities such as Paris, New

York and Bogotá pushed to open more street space to cyclists, expanded the size of side-walks, or

blocked car traffic to enable social distancing. Similarly, many cities have vouched to invest into

cycling infrastructure and are gaining increasing support among the population for these

investments.

In general, designing suitable and efficient infrastructure networks constitutes an intricate

problem as the networks are subject to multiple, often opposing technical, economic and social

constraints. Examples for efficient network structures can be found in various biological and

social networks, balancing resource and energy costs with efficient physical or information

transport and robustness to failures. For mobility and infrastructure networks, examples of

efficient topologies include the core–periphery structure of air travel networks, balancing the cost

of direct flights with the inconvenience of transfers, and the emergent backbone structure in street

networks of cities.

CHAPTER V
SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Summary

This research study, "Online Stock Tracker and Navigation for The Bicycle Shop of

Cauayan City," aimed to design and develop a web app bike shop locator and availability of bikes

and accessories to each shop to help the customer locate and browse items to each shop before

visiting the actual shop and can add ratings to the sold item and receive the reference number to

approve the ratings from the shop.

The data gathered was analyzed using the mean and descriptive interpretation to

determine the acceptability of the developed system as evaluated by the 63 respondents; six (6)

bike shop owners and staffs (three (3) respondents per agency; one (1) shop owner and two (2)

staffs), and fifty-seven (57) other respondents (thirty (30) respondents for the benefits and

twenty-seven (27) respondents for the performance of the system).

Based on the responses of the respondents regarding the benefits of the online stock

tracker and navigation system, it revealed that in terms of information, convenience, and variety,

they "strongly agree" that the system is beneficial to the end user in searching for bike products.

Individually, these three criteria have a mean of 4.79, 4.73, 4.76, respectively, and an overall

weighted mean of 4.76.

Based on the result gathered from the shop owners and its staff, it shows that the two (2)

agencies strongly agreed that the performance of the system using ISO 25010 is well performed

and functional, with the weighted mean of 4.42 from the 1 st agency and 4.89 from the 2 nd agency.

On the 1st agency, they strongly agreed that using the Online Stock Tracker and Navigation

System is functional, performed efficiently, compatible, usable, secured, maintainable, and

Bachelor of Science in Information Technology 63

COLLEGE OF COMPUTING STUDIES, INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

portable with the mean of 4.45, 4.17, 4.83, 4.67, 4.42, 4.42, and 4.67. In contrast, they agree with

its performance in terms of its reliability, with a mean of 3.75. Moreover, the 2 nd agency strongly

agreed that using the Online Stock Tracker and Navigation System is functional, performed

efficiently, compatible, usable, reliable, secured, maintainable, and portable with the mean of

4.88, 4.67, 5.00, 5.00, 5.00, 5.00, 4.67, and 4.92

Furthermore, in the evaluation of performance using the ISO 25010 in the developed

system, most of the respondents, which are the customers, strongly agreed to its functionality

(4.45), compatibility (4.60), usability (4.44), security (4.45), and portability (4.45). At the same

time, they also agreed to its performance efficiency (4.09), reliability (3.90), and maintainability

(4.02), with an overall weighted mean of 4.35 or "Strongly Agree."

Conclusion

Based on the analysis and evaluation of the developed system, the researchers concluded

the following:

1. After implementing the developed system, it reveals the result on the analytics bar on

which bicycles and accessories that are sold. Adding the items information in the system

helps the user to browse the products that are available in the shop. At the same time,

there are seven (7) available bicycle shops that are integrated into the map.

2. After analyzing the gathered information, the benefits of the developed system are

beneficial in terms of information, convenience, and variety and can help the end user to

search for more items by using the online stock tracker and navigation system.

3. Using ISO 25010 to evaluate the performance of the developed system and based on the

result of the response of the two agencies, it shows that the system is working properly,

Bachelor of Science in Information Technology 64

ISABELA STATE UNIVERSITY
Cauayan City, Isabela
COLLEGE OF COMPUTING STUDIES, INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

especially with the features that are included in the system. Based on the results from the

response of the other respondents using ISO 25010 to evaluate the performance of the

developed system shows that they strongly agreed that the system is functional,

compatible, usable, secured, and portable, while they agreed to its efficiency, reliability,

and maintainability which means that the web app system is ready to use.

Recommendations

1. The researchers recommend that future researchers are needed to improve the system's

functions and features and also add more features to this system. On the item’s

description, enhance the information and its function and also, the analytics bar needs to

add more features and improve, especially the approval of ratings to ensure that the data

in the analytics bar are confirmable. Improve also the performance of the map and

features and add more bicycle shop locations in the future.

2. The researchers recommend that future researchers to add more benefits to the system

and improve the system's performance based on the results of the data gathered from the

response of the respondents.

3. The researchers also recommend that users to consider the proposed online stock tracker

and navigation system as their source of searching for bicycle products and accessories

and the location of the nearest bike shop. Since it proved that the system’s performance is

functional and in good condition to access by the end-users.
