Task 1. Think of Your Typical Day and Complete The Table: 1. Do Homework 2 Hours To Dance About An Hour
Look back at the survey that you did. Do you feel that you spend more time
working than not working?
The answer to this question would vary for individuals and depend on their
personal circumstances and perspective. Some people may feel like they spend more time
working than not, while others may feel like they have a good balance between work and
leisure time. It is important to take into account the nature of one's work and the demands
of their job.
Do you do things quickly or slowly? Are you often in rush or do you take your
time?
Again, the answer to this question would vary for each individual. Some people
may be naturally inclined to work quickly and efficiently, while others may prefer to take
their time and work more slowly. Some people may also feel rushed due to external
factors such as tight deadlines or heavy workloads.
This would depend on the culture and context. In some societies, punctuality and
efficiency may be highly valued, leading to a greater emphasis on time management. In
other cultures, there may be a more relaxed approach to time and less emphasis on strict
schedules.
Some countries are introducing a mandatory shorter working week (32 hours).
What are the advantages and disadvantages of this?
Advantages:
1. Improved work-life balance: A shorter working week can give employees more
time to spend with their families and pursue hobbies and interests outside of work.
2. Increased productivity: Studies have shown that shorter working hours can
increase productivity because employees are more focused and motivated during
their work hours.
3. Improved mental health: A shorter working week can reduce stress and improve
mental health, as employees have more time to rest and relax.
4. Reduced absenteeism: Employees may be less likely to take sick days or other
time off if they feel that they have a better work-life balance.
Disadvantages:
Task 3. Make up expressions with a noun “TIME”. Use parts of speech which are
offered (at least 1 in each box)
Task 4. Use the time expressions to complete the sentences (spend more time,
time out, take your time, matter of time, run out of time, wasting my time,
time frame, time after time, time is on our side)
9. OK, time out! We all need a break. Let's come back in 10 minutes.
10.What time frame are we talking about? A week? A month?
1. Time after time, I forget to bring my keys with me when leaving the house.
3. Using a meal prep service can save time and simplify your weekly meal
planning.
4. Good time management skills are essential for balancing work and personal
life.
5. I always get confused about the time zone differences when traveling to
different countries.
Task 6. Prepare a speech for the meeting with the freshmen on topic “Time
has a wonderful way of showing us what matters”.
I'd like to welcome all the freshmen to this new academic year. As you begin
your journey here, I'd like to share a thought with you that has been on my mind
for a while. The quote "Time has a wonderful way of showing us what matters" by
Margaret Peters has always fascinated me. This quote has the power to inspire us
and remind us of the important things in life.
As we go through our lives, we often get caught up in our daily routines and
forget to appreciate the people and things that truly matter to us. However, time
has a way of showing us what truly matters by forcing us to confront the reality of
our lives. Time is a valuable resource that we cannot get back once it's gone. We
must use it wisely and invest it in things that matter to us the most.
So, as you begin your journey here at college, I urge you to reflect on what
matters to you. Take the time to identify your priorities and make an effort to
invest in them. Remember that time is a precious resource that we cannot afford to
waste. Embrace it, cherish it, and use it wisely.
Thank you.
