Double crochet
Yarn over, insert your hook under the next stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch ( 3
loops on your hook) yarn over again and pull through just 2 loops, yarn over and pull through
the last 2 loops.
Single crochet Invisible decrease [ sc- dec] Please note that when making the invisible
decrease you will be working in the front loops only of your two stitches.
Insert your hook into the front loop only of the first stitch. Do not yarn over and pull up yarn
as you would in a traditional decrease. Insert your hook into the front loop only of the next
stitch. You will need to turn the tip of your crochet hook downward to do this. Then swing
your crochet hook up, and under the front loop of the 2nd stitch. You now have 3 loops on
your hook. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the first 2 loops on your crochet hook,
leaving 2 loops on your hook. Then yarn over again and pull yarn through the last 2 loops
on your crochet hook.
Magic adjustable ring
First make a loop with your yarn leaving 3" long tail. Insert hook in centre of loop made, yo
and draw up loop. YO, pull through to make your first chain. (Do not count this as your first
sc) Continue to crochet over the loop and the yarn tail until you have the required number
of sc for your first round. For example, if the pattern calls for 6 scs, then sc 6 times into
the ring. (Insert hook into the center of the ring and draw up loop, YO and draw through
both loops.) When you're finished, pull the tail to close the ring.

Always move your stitch marker up at the end of each row as you will be working in
Use your 2.5mm hook throughout unless otherwise stated. (you will only need the 3mm hook
for the outer ears)
HEAD
Round 1. Ch 14, sc-inc the 2nd ch from the hook and in each of the next 11 ch, sc x 4 into the
last ch, (turning as you go to work up the other side of the foundation ch) sc in each of the
next 11 ch, sc-inc in the last ch. Place marker (30)
Round 2. Sc-inc in the first st, sc in each of next 13 st, sc-inc in each of the next 2 st, sc in each
of the next 13 st, sc-inc in the last st (34)
Round 3. Sc-inc in 1st st, sc in each of next 15 st, sc-inc in the next st, sc in each of next 17 st

Leave a long tail as you will need it for the eye lids, weave through the last 6 stitches and pull
tight to close the hole.
Keeping the tail threaded on your needle take it up to a stitch close to the outer edge of an
eye. Bring it out above the eye to make the eye lids. Put 3 stitches across the top of each
eye and then take the tail back through the head to the back and make a double knot to
secure. Hide the tail inside the head and cut the remainder of the yarn.
EARS
Use your 2.5mm hook for the inner ears and your 3mm hook for the outer ears.
Make 2 inner ears first using your contrasting colour and 2 outer ears using your main colour.
Fasten off on the inner ears but keep the yarn attached on the outer ears.
Chain 8, dc in the 3rd ch from the hook and in each of the next 2 st, hdc in the next st, sc in
the next, sc-inc in the last st turning to work up the other side of the ch, sc in the next st, hdc
in the next dc in each of the next 3 st, ch 2 and sl st back into the last st to finish off.
On the outer ear, when you finish off you will need to make 2 sl st, along the bottom edge of
the ear to take you to the starting position.
Put the inner and outer ears wrong sides together and sc through the back loop of the outer
ear and the front loop of the inner ear to crochet them together.

FEET X2
Round 1. 6sc in the magic circle, tighten the loop and place marker (6)
Stuff the foot lightly and pinch the ends together. You will be working through both sets of
stitches to close the foot and make the toes at the same time. When making the toes and I
say ‘the next st’ I mean the next set of stitches when the foot is flattened.
Ch 2, dc-inc into the next st, ch 2 and sl st into the next st, sl st into the next st along, ch 2, dc-
inc (into the same space as the ch 2) ch 2 and sl st into the next st, sl st again into the next st
and ch 2, dc-inc into the next st, ch 2 and sl st into the last st to finish closing the foot.

Sew the feet to the open end of the legs using the tail you left on the legs. Keep it attached
and take your needle through the leg to the top and sew the leg to the body so the dragon
will be in a sitting position. Making sure to sew the inner leg to the body as well.
ARMS X2

At the end of the last round make 1 more sc and then flatten the end and sc through both
sets of st to close the top of the arm. You should have 3 stiches at the top of the closed arms.
Leave a long tail and sew the arms to the sides of the body around 7 rows down from the
neck.
WINGS X2
Leave a long beginning tail before you make the slip knot as you will use it to sew the wings
to the body.
Row 1. Ch 9, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in the next 2 ch, put 3 sc into the next ch, sc
in each of the next 4 ch, ch 1 turn.
Row 2. Sc in each of next 5 st, put 3 sc into the next st, sc in each of next 4 st, ch 4 turn
Row 3. Sc into the 2nd ch from the hook and in the next 2 ch (from the ch 4 at the end of the
last row) sc in each of the next 5 st, put 3 sc into the next st, sc in each of next 6 st, ch 1, turn
Row 4. Sc in each of next 7 st, put 3 sc in the next st, sc in each of the next 9 st, ch 4 turn
Row 5. Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in the next 2 ch, sc in each of the next 10 st, put 3
sc into the next st, sc in the next 8 st.
Sl st down the side and all around the bottom edge to neaten up the edge of the wing.
There won’t be any ‘proper’ stitches to sl st into along the side so you’ll need to use the
turning chains. It wont matter how many slip stitches you make here its just to make the wing
look a little neater. Put the final sl st into the end st from the top row. Leave a long tail.
Sew the wings to the back of the dragon just a little above the arms, leave a gap between
them as the spikes will need to go right down his back.

Row 2. [ sc in the 1st st, hdc in the next, (dc,tc,dc) in the next st, hdc in the next sc in the next,
sl st in the next ] repeat to the end of the row.
Leave a long tail, pin the spikes in place down the back of the dragon and start sewing to
the body from the tip of the tail working up towards the head. Use the foundation ch to sew
the spikes in place.

finish off, leave a long tail and sew them to the front of the dragon.
