18. If 36 men can complete a work in 24 days, how many extra men be employed so as to complete the
work in 18 days?

19. A metallic sheet is of rectangular shape of length 48 cm and width 36 cm. From each of its corners , a
square of 8 cm is cut-off . An open box is made by folding the remaining sheet. Find the volume of the
open box.

20. There are 2401 students in a school. The P.T teacher wants them to stand in rows and columns such
that the number of rows is equal to the number of columns. Find the number of rows.

21. A circular ground has a radius of 56m. A 7 m wide road runs on the outside around it. Find the area of
the road.

23. Three prizes are to be distributed in a debating contest. The value of second prize if five-sixth the value
of the third prize is four-fifths that of the second prize. It the total value of the three prizes is Rs 1500 , find
the value of each prize.

24. Aman Gupta bought two TV sets for Rs 42500 . He sold one at a loss of 10% and the other at a profit of
12% . If the selliong price of each TV set is the same, determine the cost price of each set.

25. A total of 12000 soap cakes were sold in a year. Four main brands were P,Q, R,S . Use the adjoining pie
chart of find the number of soap cake sold by four main brands.

26. How much pure alcohol be added to 400 ml of 15% solution to make it strength 32%?.

27. Two years ago a man was 6 times as old as his son. After 18 years he will be twice as old as his son.
What will be the present age of the father and the son?

28. The outer dimension of a wooden box are 10 cm× 8 cm × 7 cm. Thickness of the wood is 1 cm. Find
the total cost of making the wooden box if the wood costs Rs 2 per cubic centimeter.
