CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

The Sociological Imagination was written by American professor and sociologist

Wright Mills (1916–1962). In his writings, He discussed how people might comprehend

their own past and the past of others in connection to their history and social structure

by using a sociological lens. This viewpoint provided sociologists with a framework for

breaking down social phenomena into their two constituent parts Social and Individual

relationships. They were able to see how behavior, culture, and attitudes influence the

development of social, political, and cultural identities via this.

“We can easily judge other people without understanding their situation”. This saying

obtains social and political theories, principles and various aspects of social and political

life to understand the meaning of our actions critically studying the nature of humanity.

Students have the power to impact their own destinies via the study of society and

culture by acquiring skills, beliefs, and understandings that enable successful

engagement in current society. A greater knowledge of cultural diversity and more

cultural sensitivity and awareness may be gained through studying Culture, Society, and

Politics. In today's increasingly globalized society, this may be extremely significant.

In addition to our own actions our opinions on politics and government may also be

influenced by those around us and the environment in which we were raised. A very

complex field of study is social science. According to the subject or focus, it is divided

into various sections. With the aid of a trans-disciplinary perspective, this subject will

place a special emphasis on the interaction of Anthropology (culture), Sociology

(society), and Political Science (politics) in order to comprehend and clarify social issues

in human society.

This study is to be conducted to find out the importance of studying Understanding

Culture, Society and Politics to Humanities and Social Sciences Students. They should

study Understanding Culture, Society and Politics because it builds their recognition of

social, political dynamics, cultural and sensitivity to cultural differences through the use

of cross academic understandings from the fields of politics, anthropology and

sociology. Students are exposed to the nation's present goals for human development

and get a greater grasp of how society, politics, human, culture activity exist.
