APSCHE Excellence Awards 2023


The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) is presenting the statewide
Excellence Awards 2023 in four categories for higher education students of Andhra Pradesh.
The inaugural Excellence Awards 2022 received huge response from the students across the
state. This is the first-of-its-kind initiative by any State Council in the country. This is another
unique initiative in the series of reforms initiated by the APSCHE in the last 4 years.

Objective
To promote the spirit of excellence, reward the students for their skills & qualities, and motivate
them to become responsible citizens and empathetic human beings.

Award Categories
1. Community Service Award (CSA)
2. Best Student of the Year Award (BSYA)
3. Influential Student Award (ISA)
4. Student Innovation Award (SIA)

Details
The Award consists of a memento, a certificate, and the prize money. Students can apply from
21st March 2023 to 20th April 2023.

Prize Money
1. Rs. 1,00,000 /- for the first position
2. Rs. 75,000 /- for the second position
3. Rs. 50,000 /- for the third position

General eligibility criteria for CSA, BSYA & ISA


 The applicant must be studying in a recognized college/university in Andhra Pradesh.
 Students pursuing their education in their current academic years only are eligible.
 A student can apply for only one award at a time.
 The student must be less than 24 years of age on the date of application.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Community Service Award (CSA)
 Contributed significantly to building a sense of unity and purpose in the community by
working with/in an NGO/CSO/any other organization/independently.
 Assisted others in improving their communities through volunteer programs, social
groups, outreach centers, sports programs, or after-college programs.
 Contributed to at least one district level or state level community program or initiative
with measurable results of their impact created.
 Demonstrated their role as change agents in influencing others to effect positive changes
in the community.
 Activities did under Community Service Project (CSP) internship won’t be considered.

2. Best Student of the Year Award (BSYA)


 Academic excellence (Consolidated 80% or 8.00 CGPA).
 Overall attendance (At least 85%).
 Anyone or more among the following categories:
 At least one prize in sports and games at the district/state/national level.
 At least one prize in co-curricular activities (CCA) or extra-curricular activities
(ECA) at district/state/national level.
 At least one prize in paper presentation in national/international seminars/
conferences.
 Mentored other students in their academic and non-academic activities by listening to
them carefully and created study spaces where students can receive support.
 Reforms proposed and canvassed for the betterment of college/university systems .
 Participation in community development activities or social responsibility activities.
 Any other leadership activities.

3. Influential Student Award (ISA)


 Organized sports events/CCA/ECA at inter-college or inter-university level.
 Organized and lead the campus programs at the district/state/national/global level.
 Initiated an activity/reforms for the department/hostels/college/university.
 Active and continuous involvement in clubs/societies of the college/university.
 Motivated and acted as Role Model for other students and college/university.
 Showcased the ability to solve problems in all situations (STAR: Situation, Task, Action,
Response)
 The nominee must also show significant potential for continued leadership.
4. Student Innovation Award (SIA)
There are three categories in this Student Innovation Award. They are
a) Innovative Start-Up Prototype
b) Ideation & Innovation
c) Student Best Business Idea

Only one student/team will be awarded under each category. There will not be second and third prizes
under the Student Innovation Award. The prize money for the Student Innovation Award is as
follows:
a) Innovative Start-Up Prototype – Rs. 1,00,000 /-
b) Ideation & Innovation – Rs. 75,000 /-
c) Student Best Business Idea – Rs. 50,000 /-

a) Innovative Start-Up Prototype – Eligibility Criteria


 A student entrepreneur (individual or team) who has their Start-Up established within 03 years
of completing UG/PG programme from a recognized college/university in Andhra Pradesh.
 Firm should be registered as a start-up in ‘Start-Up India Portal’ (OR) registered as an entity
under any other legal form of business being recognized by MCA (OR) currently incubated at
a registered incubator.
 The Start-Up should be innovative and performing.

b) Ideation & Innovation – Eligibility Criteria


 A student/team who has completed UG/PG programme from a recognized college/university
in Andhra Pradesh, and not completed one year after leaving the college and established Start-
Up.
 Firm should be registered as a start-up in ‘Start-Up India Portal’ (OR) registered as an entity
under any other legal form of business being recognized by MCA (OR) currently incubated at
a registered incubator or e-cell and not more than ONE year from passing out from the place of
last study (excluding the year of passing).

c) Student Best Business Idea – Eligibility Criteria


 A student/team who is/are currently pursuing UG/PG programme from a recognized
college/university in Andhra Pradesh.
 The student must be less than 24 years of age on the date of application.

Selection Procedure
 Students have to submit their applications along with evidence and a reference letter on the
APSCHE website.
 Upon receiving the applications from the students, APSCHE shall constitute a Preliminary
Scrutiny Committee to scrutinize the online applications and shortlist 12 candidates for
each Award for the final round.
 The shortlisted candidates shall give a presentation (online/in-person of their work)
followed by an interview or a personality test (online/in-person) before the Jury as per the
award category. The Jury shall announce the winners.

General Guidelines
 Activities performed under internship i.e. 2-month Community Service Project (CSP), 2-
month short-term internship and 6-month long-term internship won’t be considered. The
head of the institution has to certify on the letter head that the work done by the student
doesn’t fall under the mandatory academic activity.
 The work done in the last academic year i.e. from June 2022 to till the last date of
application will only be considered for CSA, BSYA & ISA.
 Every applicant shall apply only on the APSCHE website. All the official
communication shall be sent to the registered e-mail of the student only. All candidates
must make sure that they enter the correct email address.
 Students have to download the Reference Letter from the APSCHE website, get it filled
and upload it along with the application form, reference letter, and the required evidence.
 All the students shall submit their applications online only. No application shall be accepted
through the post.
 The results at every stage shall be uploaded on the official website of APSCHE along with
the requirements for the next round. The applicant has to check the website without fail.
 All the presentations of the winners may be uploaded on the official website for the
reference of other students.
 There shall be due diligence by a third-party or government intelligence to verify and
validate the authenticity of the candidature.
 If any candidate is found furnishing any misinformation or false information at any stage
of the application, serious action shall be taken against that student. Such students will be
disqualified to participate in Excellence Awards future and liable for disciplinary action.
 If any winner is found to have furnished wrong information or misconduct, the candidate
on the waiting list shall be conferred the award.
 The process might be reviewed from time to time whenever it is deemed necessary.
 The final selection by the Jury is binding on everyone.
