IV. PROCEDURES
What comes to your mind when you hear or encounter these words?
Do you think reading is essential in learning?
Ask:
1. When you read a news article, what reading strategy is used?
2. Mrs. Ferrer wants to be entertained by reading a lifestyle magazine, what reading strategy should she use?
3. If you want to look for a particular word in the dictionary, what reading strategy do you use?
V. EVALUATE
When I look a barren piece of land, I always see a lovely garden in it. That’s my job- I design gardens. It is not easy to be a landscape designer. Apart from being a good
gardener, you have to imagine how you want the garden to look like. It is hard work and you have to be outdoors most of the time- rain or shine. You also have to be
physically strong because you have to cut or prune trees, level the land, plant the seeds and even set up fountains and rock gardens. You have to be hard-working and
persistent because it takes time for a garden to take shape.
ASSIGNMENT: Read carefully the passage “Why is Hand Washing So Important?” and answer the questions that follow.
First, wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold). Make sure the water isn't too hot for little hands. Second, use soap and lather up for about 20 seconds.
Antibacterial soap isn't a must — any soap will do. Third, make sure you get in between your fingers, on the backs of hands, and under the nails where germs like to hang
out. And don't forget the wrists.
Finally, rinse and dry well with a clean towel. When you come into contact with germs, you can become infected just by touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. And once
you're infected, it's usually just a matter of time before the whole family comes down with the same illness.
Questions to Answer:
1. Name three diseases that are resisted by washing hands?
2. Is antibacterial soap necessary to fight disease?
3. What is the importance of proper handwashing?
4. Which part of the hands are the two best places for germs to hang out?
5. What is the recommended time duration for washing hands in this article?
