 Introduction

Historical antecedent of the technology

5G is the 5th generation mobile network. It is a new global wireless standard after
1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. 5G enables a new kind of network that is designed to connect
virtually everyone and everything together including machines, objects, and devices. 5G
wireless technology is meant to deliver higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, ultra-low
latency, more reliability, massive network capacity, increased availability, and a more
uniform user experience to more users. Higher performance and improved efficiency
empower new user experiences and connects new industries. Link practically everyone and
everything, including machines, objects, and gadgets. Although 5G is not owned by any one
corporation or individual, it is being developed by a number of companies in the mobile
ecosystem. Verizon was the first to create and implement 5G, as well as the first to
accelerate 5G innovation. Verizon led the way in developing and deploying 5G and
accelerating 5G innovation. In 2015, we created the 5G Technology Forum (5GTF)—
bringing together key partners like Ericsson, Qualcomm, Intel and Samsung—to move the
entire 5G ecosystem forward.

Verizon used this 5GTF standard to launch their 5G Home Service in the US in LA,
Sacramento, Houston and Indianapolis in the last year. This standard set the foundation for
the global standard. The 5GTF work helped accelerate the release of the 3GPP 5G New
Radio (NR) standard in December of 2017. On the 3rd of April 2019, they introduced 5G
mobile service in part of Chicago and Minneapolis. Customers in those cities were the first in
the world to have 5G – enabled smartphones connected to a 5G network. Since then,
Verizon has been able to introduce a number of 5G phones, including the Samsung Galaxy
S10 5G, Galaxy Note 10+ 5G, LG Thin 5G among others. Verizon introduced 5G in 2019 in
parts of many cities in the first part of the year with plans to have 5G in more than 30 U.S
cities by the end of the year: (1) Chicago and Minneapolis, launched last April 3, 2019, (2)
Denver, launched last June 27, 2019, (3) Providence, launched last July 1, 2019, (4) St.
Paul, launched last July 18, 2019, (5) Atlanta, Detroit, Indianapolis, and Washington DC,
launched last July 31, 2019, (6) Phoenix, launched last August 23, 2019, (7) Panama City
and New York City, launched last September 26, 2019, (8) Dallas and Omaha, launched last
October 25, 2019 and (9) Houston and Boston, launched last November 19, 2019.

Ultra-Wideband's high speed, low latency, and large capacity. The possibilities are nearly
endless, ranging from emergency response to worldwide payments to next-generation
gaming and entertainment.

Government and/or private agencies involvement/support

Here are some companies that participate in the eventual build-out of 5G networks
around the world. Ericsson (ERIC). It is a Swedish telecommunication equipment and
services company with a market capitalization of $25 billion. It operates in the forefront of 5G
hardware development, participating in the field trials and research programs. Nokia
Corporation is a Finnish telecommunication equipment and data networking company. Like
Ericsson, Nokia had participated in the advanced testing phases on new 5G radio access
products for eventual deployment by mobile operators around the world. Qualcomm Inc.
develops and commercializes wireless communication technologies. Qualcomm is pursuing
the parallel development strategy covering 4G, 5G, and Wi-Fi technology to support multi-
mode mobile devices between networks seamlessly as 5G network capabilities are phased
in over time.

Technology can change and create modernization. In Heidegger's point we can say
that it is more convenient and productive in any kind of work or aspect because with the help
of technology human can make their living way easier. Hickel's point states that we should
be more concerned of the growth so that we can have a development in our environment or
in our society. However, the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle's point focuses on the nature of
human for according to him happiness is determined in what the function of human is and
what is being directed with an appropriate virtue. Joy's point says that technologies are
threat for it has the possibility of replacing humans as she believes that machines can make
the world of human’s way easier and faster without getting tired unlike humans. It is related
to the concept of good life because humans can be convenient and productive especially in
any kind of work for technology can make it easier. Also, these technologies could really
help the humans in most aspects and it is possible for machines such as robots to replace
humans as the time comes for technology even at the present day is still evolving.
 The Good Life

5G technology is slowly being introduced into our life and this generation. And it has
lots of advantages that led to the development of the society. The influence of 5G technology
has a lot of good outcomes. This opens up several chances in parts of human life,
particularly in today's time, where technology is not new, but the advancement of technology
is, and how this technology influences people's lives is one of them. It has a great impact to
business; the numbers increase in countries with 5g network in the next five to 10 years. The
5G wireless and mobile networks are projected to open up a slew of new chances for
businesses to grow. They affect business operations, P&L economics, asset valuations, and
revenue models across a wide range of industries.

Social Impact advantages and disadvantages

The Higher download speed is one of the advantages that 5G technology can offer.
The 5G network boost its capacity in which it increased the downloading speeds by 20 times
from 20 mbps by 4G to 10 mbps by 5Gand decreased its latency or delayed transitions
between devices. These speeds will maximize its soft browsing experience by facilitating
great processes, although not all people are not possible to use it today and that is the
reason, they cab encounter difficulties. This has a lot of advantages in many aspects for the
user since society is very much into technology. This makes people approach life in
everyday activities in a different way. Another form of advantage of 5G technology is the
hyperconnectivity the 5G network promises the possible of the implementation of a hyper
interconnection environment to reach the point of having the much-desired smart cities. The
performance of these new dynamics win depends on the bandwidth of 5G and the internet of
things or the IOT such as things that receive and send messages through the internet.
According to Pisarov, J., & Mester, G. (2020). With a new wave of smart applications
impacting the way we approach to everyday activities, personal assistants like Amazon’s
Alexa and Google Home creating opportunities for more comfortable living, now the same
idea was expanded to Smart Cities, which are viewed as a future of urbanism. These cities
should connect infrastructure and technology on a yet unseen level, improving both the
quality of life for the citizens and the way they interact with their environment. Along with the
advantages is the other half of it which is the disadvantages, there are many factors and
bases that 5G technology affects many people especially in minors. It was stated by Husam-
aldeen Faisel Kokez; (2020) that the application of technology in all aspects of life raises the
dangers, dangers and crimes associated with the use of this tool, which negatively reflects
the likelihood of its utter use in all walks of life. This has a serious impact in the society that
affecting children. The relationship between the development of social networks and the use
of text messaging by young students was explored by Bryant (2006). The research consisted
of 40 people aged between 11 and 13 years of age. The study results showed that there is a
marginal association between internet connections and physical friendships. There are a
number of peers on the Internet that can communicate online, and text messages have
shown that receiving social support is not a substitute for individuals that suffer from
loneliness.
Economic Impact advantages and disadvantages

The 5G technology has a huge impact in economic sector, the impact of this new
technology makes a higher rates and improvement in economic state. One of its advantages
is that lots of small business executives believe that 5G technologies will have positive
effects on multiple areas of their business. The areas where they’re most impacting and
benefits of mobile network 5g: Customer experience, service/product quality, and worker
productivity. 5g wireless technology could lead to a number of benefits for small business
owners. Including more reliable connections and increasing ways to communicate with their
clients. 4g to 5g could foster global expansion on a level that so far hasn’t been possible,
even for the smallest business. Imagine meetings in 3D holograms or simultaneous
transactions all over the world. Your 5g phones devices will be fully synced with the Internet
of Things. Which means that you are better able to keep track of real-time marketing, sales,
and logistics from anywhere in the world. While in the disadvantage’s factors of 5G. First, the
Technological Exclusion. As the implementation of the 5G network, they imply a lack of
immediate accessibility for average pockets which leads to delay in its implementation due to
a lack of means for its use. Next is the Insufficient Infrastructure. In order for 5G network
function properly, it requires an investment in infrastructure which would cost a lot of money.
And because of this, the implementation has been delayed due to the high cost that
government will have to cover. Lastly, we have the Risk in Security and Proper Data. In
using 5G network, it requires optimal data management. It is still on the process of their
study, on how to use such data so that privacy will not be affected by interconnectivity.

Environmental Impact advantages and disadvantages

One of the advantages and impact of 5G technology in the environmental sector is

that it can improve agricultural development in a variety of ways. According to Tang, Yu;
Dananjayan, Sathian; Hou, Chaojun; Guo, Qiwei; Luo, Shaoming; He, Yong (2021). Over the
next decade, the superfast 5G network will play a critical role in farming industries to improve
the yields and quality of crops while using minimal labor. Smart and precision farming allows
farmers to be more informed and productive. The advent of 5G will considerably change the
nature of jobs in farming and agriculture. The internet of things (IoT)-based cloud computing
service in the 5G network provides flexible and efficient solutions for smart farming. This will
allow the automated operation of various unmanned agricultural machines for the plowing,
planting, and management phases of crop farming and will ultimately achieve secure,
reliable, environmentally friendly, and energy-efficient operations and enable unmanned
farms. While in the disadvantages, 5G technology can affect in the ecological state of the
environment since the improvement and development of technology can cause to much in
the environment. The disadvantage in Ecosystems – Microbes central to all life on Earth, are
also susceptible to damage from microwave radiation. Microbes are diverse in form and
function. In soils, one teaspoon of topsoil contains around 1 billion individual microscopic
cells and around 10,000 different species. These organisms have many tasks, and are
central to crop fertility, purifying the environment from pollutants, regulating carbon storage
stocks and production/consumption of many significant greenhouse gases, such as methane
and nitrous oxides.

In this Modern-world technology became the most important thing that people considered as
essential to their day-to-day life, thus it is beneficial as what human think it is. Also,
Technology comes with the fast internet connection, and the more updated the technology
is, the faster the internet connection it can be. However, technology has affected negatively
the people in today’s world. There are some disadvantages of 5G technology which will
affect the society as a whole. According to Journalist Edgar Mondragon Tenorio (2021); one
of the Disadvantages of 5G technology is Immediate Obsolescence, thus 5G network needs
a device that can support this network, current 4G devices do not have this capability and
will become immediately obsolete. As we all know most technologies and/or smartphones
today has only support 4G LTE network that provide the fastest mobile Internet, which
makes it out-of-date in the future generations. And so, these Present technologies we have
will have less worth in the future when 5G network will arise.

It is evident that 5G technology can have both positive and negative effects on
people's subjective well-being because, as previously said, it has both advantages and
disadvantages for users. Technologies, on the other hand, equip us with tools. And it is up to
us to decide how to use them appropriately. Indeed, we have a responsibility to leverage
technologies to mitigate potential negative impacts to well-being. 5G technology provides
faster speeds, lower latency, and more bandwidth, resulting in major improvements in
human communication quality and happiness. By expanding the capacity of information
highways and enabling ordinary things to connect with one other and with us in real time, the
implementation of this sort of mobile network will transform the way we communicate. Its
implementation is a tremendous technological breakthrough that has the potential to change
our lives. The impact of 5G technology on human happiness is that we've gotten so
accustomed to receiving notifications from family, friends, and work in near-real time that
we've forgotten about the communication challenges of a few years years ago, when we
relied on inefficient mail systems, not to mention back when it could take months for
important news to reach their destination. In an increasingly connected world, being close to
the information that is, for one reason or another, important in our lives is something which
favours human well-being and peace of mind. So, in order to make our world more human
through connecting lives, we must place the individual at the center and technology as their
context, which means recognizing that what is actually important is enhancing human
connections as the primary source of well-being and happiness. The future of 5G technology
is bright. It has the potential to enable greater communication between people, machines,
and systems than ever before. Its reduced latency allows for technical advancements and
more. One area where 5G might have a big influence is public safety. Firefighters and police
officers, for example, could be better equipped to conduct their tasks more efficiently—both
faster and smarter. Because of 5G's low latency, it may be possible to capture and share
data in near-real time, allowing important information (ranging from road conditions to
structural integrity) to be made available to first responders practically quickly. Ambulances
might also benefit from 5G technology as the ecosystem grows, from streaming near real-
time diagnostics to the emergency department before the patient even arrives to utilizing
augmented reality (AR) through linked glasses to gain expert aid in field diagnostics.5G
technology has the potential to save "up to 90% of our present power use," and it might help
encourage clean energy by modernizing the electrical grid across the country, which would
lead to greater efficiency from renewable energy sources. 5G connectivity also allows
devices to offload more data processing to cloud applications, extending device battery life
and lowering overall consumption. These important areas only give us a better
understanding of the potential for the future of 5G technology.
