Personality is the Basis of Psychology

Personality and Psychology are related to each other. According to studies, they are
deeply interconnected based on an individual's way of thinking and behavior that comprise a
person's unique adjustment to life. They are something we're born with. They are a compilation
of our experiences, beliefs, and habits which we have to deal with as we grow up.

Psychology studies and understands mental processes and brain functions. On the other
hand, personality is a structure gathering interrelated behavioral and emotional patterns.
However, personality is a dynamic organization of psychological systems that create the
person's characteristic patterns of behavior, thoughts, and feelings. The primary concern of
personality is on the most noticeable parts of a human’s psychological life. It mainly focuses on
the mental state of individuals. The overall psychological system may therefore refer to the
personality of an individual at any stage of his/her development. Every individual conveys some
form of personality, it forms the sense of being human. Among those usually shown concern
are people who are sad or happy, dull or smart, and apathetic or energetic, among others. In
essence, "personality concerns itself with the pattern of operation of mental systems in
individuals" (Feist & Feist, 2009, p. 12-67).

Personality is a branch of psychology. It deals with determining an individual’s mood,

attitude, and behavior. The personalities of people vary from one person to another due to
genetic and environmental differences. The study of personality is one of the significant topics
of interest in psychology. Numerous personality theories exist, and most fall into one of four
major perspectives. There is such thing as personality psychology which concerns or connects
with human nature. It tells us how a person will act in different situations and why. According
to Ahmetoglu, 2012, it reveals whether and to what degree or level people change their
behavior. It is something that tells you the difference and similarities between people's
mentalities.

Psychological activities allow us to use our personality to perceive our surroundings. Our
behavior is how we react to the information we receive about our surroundings. Critical
thinking helps us evaluate information to find a sensible, well-supported conclusion. Social
interaction allows us to communicate with others while emotional processes help us
understand and effectively integrate our emotions into our daily lives. The characteristics of our
personality can change over our life through different personal experiences and mental
challenges.

I believe that Personality and Psychology are undoubtedly related to each other for
three main reasons. First, personality is a dynamic organization of psychological systems that
create the person's characteristic patterns of behavior, thoughts, and feelings. Second, it is a
branch of psychology. And lastly, psychological activities allow us to use our personality to
perceive our surroundings. Individuals convey different psychological lives depending on their
environment, and social status, among other factors. Nonetheless, just a few psychological
behaviors are noticed easily. These include personality, among others. Personality defines the
whole psychological organization of humans at every stage of their development.
