Note to teachers
Our dear fellow teachers,
In the workpack you are about to see, you will find a series of activities to be used
with your students both before and after watching RobinHood. You will find that most of the activities
have been graded according to levels, which might imply age or language development or both.
You will also come across different types of activities, which in most cases we
have decided to categorise as follows: The Story; Characters; Grammar & Structures; Words,
words, words!; Drama games & activities. In many cases,
however, as in the classroom and in life, categories tend to merge and combine
and evolve, so that one activity may lend itself to something else and become
useful for something different.
In the Index section, you will find a Teacher’s Corner for some of the activities,
with suggested procedures, and answer keys where appropriate. You will also find some craft ideas.
All these are simply suggestions. You are the one who knows your students, so
please feel free to play around with this workpack as much as you want to.
Have a magical BAP experience, and do let us know what worked best for you
and your students!
All our love,
The Teachers Team

SYNOPSIS
A long time ago, in 12th-century England, there is a king called
Richard. He is so brave that he is called Richard the Lionheart. King
Richard is fair and just. He cares about the people of his Kingdom
and people love him for that. One day, the brave king and his loyal
army leave to fight in the Crusades. The king’s sister, Princess Joanne,
takes over the throne while he is away. However, she is not fair. With
the help of the sheriff of Nottingham, she forces people to pay high
taxes or go to jail. Robin of Locksley, also known as Robin Hood,
decides to fight for his people, so he starts stealing the tax money to
give it back to the poor. One day, he meets Lady Marian, the King’s
niece, and falls in love with her. Princess Joanne wants to stop Robin
Hood, so she sets a trap to catch him. Knowing that Robin likes Lady
Marian, she organises an archery contest to win a kiss from the young
lady. Will they capture Robin? Will anyone be able to stop Princess
Joanne? See this wonderful play and find out.

11 Quick Guess.
Print this page and cut out the cards. Put cards on the table, face down. Get a 1 minute timer. Separate
players in 2 teams. A member of team 1 will start reading for the rest of his team to guess. If they guess
correctly, the player picks another card and continues reading until they guess wrongly or the minute has
passed. The team will score as many points as cards have been guessed. Then it’s team 2’s turn to play. They
continue taking turns until there are no more cards to read.

Sit in a circle. One student wears a Robin Hood Hat. The other students
ask their questions. The student wearing the hat has to answer with his own
ideas. When the teacher signals, the hat passes to the student on the right,
who will continue answering the others’ questions, trying not to contradict
what previous partners said.

INDEX
BEFORE-WATCHING ACTIVITIES
ACTIVITY 1 What do you know?
Write the name Robin Hood on the board. Ask students what they know about this character. Elicit some answers orally and then
give out copies of page 6. Get students in small groups to read the questions together and complete the mind maps. After some
minutes, get groups to share their ideas, complete a model mind map on the board.
Possible answers:
What’s he famous for? / He’s famous for stealing from the rich to give to the poor. / Where does he live?
He lives in Sherwood forest. / What type of clothes does he wear? / He wears green clothes and a hat with a feather.
What is he like? / He’s brave / Who are his friends? / His friends are Little John, Lady Marian, Friar Tuck, Alan A-dale,
Will Scarlet, etc. / Who are his enemies? / His enemies are the Sheriff of Nottingham and King John.
ACTIVITY 10 Wordsearch
Bow, arrow, forest, archer, throne, sword, bullseye, friar, army
42
ACTIVITY 11 Quick Guess
Print as many pages as teams you will have. You can either follow the instructions on page 16 or use any board game and adapt the
rules. For example, get students to read a card to their team members to get the right to throw the dice if they guess, or pass the turn
to the other team if they don’t.
AFTER-WATCHING ACTIVITIES
ACTIVITY 13
Possible answers in the shared area:
He wears special clothes / He has a secret lair / He has sidekicks / He has arch-enemies
Only Robin:
He hasn’t got super powers.
Only the super-hero students choose:
He/She has a secret identity.
Conclusion: I compared Robin Hood to Batman. Both of them live in a secret lair. Robin lives in a camp in Sherwood Forest and
Batman in the Batcave. (Welcome different ideas and points of view as answers may vary.)
ACTIVITIES 14-15
Answers will vary.
ACTIVITY 16
1. thieves, 2. sword, 3. archer, 4. prize, 5. sneeze, 6. arrow, 7. bullseye, 8. trap, 9. friar, 10. soldier
ACTIVITY 17
NOUN: courage, jail, fear, lair, faith, contest, outlaw / VERB: steal, shoot, fear, catch, rob, hide
ADJECTIVE: brave, fair, handsome, expensive, high, wealthy
ACTIVITY 22 Hot-seating
You may choose to have one or two students acting as judges and taking down notes of any inconsistencies and contradictions, who
may be invited to report at the end of the game.
ACTIVITY 23
Once the still frames are formed, you may circulate the room calling “action” for students to put sound and movement into their
scenes. Another option is to get groups to show their frames one at a time for the others to guess what part of the story they are
representing. This is also possible if you take photos and show them on a screen later. You may sk students to write their ideas on
paper first, for everybody to have time to think.
