Note to teachers
Our dear fellow teachers,
In the workpack you are about to see, you will find a series of activities to be used
with your students both before and after watching RobinHood. You will find that most of the activities
have been graded according to levels, which might imply age or language development or both.
You will also come across different types of activities, which in most cases we
have decided to categorise as follows: The Story; Characters; Grammar & Structures; Words,
words, words!; Drama games & activities. In many cases,
however, as in the classroom and in life, categories tend to merge and combine
and evolve, so that one activity may lend itself to something else and become
useful for something different.
In the Index section, you will find a Teacher’s Corner for some of the activities,
with suggested procedures, and answer keys where appropriate. You will also find some craft ideas.
All these are simply suggestions. You are the one who knows your students, so
please feel free to play around with this workpack as much as you want to.
Have a magical BAP experience, and do let us know what worked best for you
and your students!
All our love,
The Teachers Team

SYNOPSIS
A long time ago, in 12th-century England, there is a king called
Richard. He is so brave that he is called Richard the Lionheart. King
Richard is fair and just. He cares about the people of his Kingdom
and people love him for that. One day, the brave king and his loyal

the help of the sheriff of Nottingham, she forces people to pay high
taxes or go to jail. Robin of Locksley, also known as Robin Hood,
decides to fight for his people, so he starts stealing the tax money to
give it back to the poor. One day, he meets Lady Marian, the King’s
niece, and falls in love with her. Princess Joanne wants to stop Robin
Hood, so she sets a trap to catch him. Knowing that Robin likes Lady

THE STORY

2 Who is Robin Hood?

Robin Hood is a folk hero from the Middle Ages in England. He is a

legendary person whom people have told stories about for many years.
Robin Hood is one who still remains popular. His story has been featured
in books, plays, movies and cartoons as well.
There are many variations of his stories. Usually, Robin Hood is an outlaw
who lives in Sherwood Forest near the town of Nottingham, England. His
enemies are Prince John (who is temporarily on the throne because his
brother, King Richard the Lionheart is away in the Middle East fighting
in the Crusades), and the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham, who abuse their
powers and take money from the people who need it. Robin Hood uses
his archery skills and his wits to steal the money back, and return it to
the poor. Accompanying Robin are his faithful followers The Merry Men.
They include Little John, Much the Miller’s son, Will Scarlet, Friar Tuck
and Alan a Dale. Later stories also had a Maid Marian.

Print as many pages as teams you will have. You can either follow the instructions on page 16 or use any board game and adapt the
rules. For example, get students to read a card to their team members to get the right to throw the dice if they guess, or pass the turn
to the other team if they don’t.

think?

ACTIVITY 22 Hot-seating
You may choose to have one or two students acting as judges and taking down notes of any inconsistencies and contradictions, who
may be invited to report at the end of the game.

ACTIVITY 23
Once the still frames are formed, you may circulate the room calling “action” for students to put sound and movement into their
scenes. Another option is to get groups to show their frames one at a time for the others to guess what part of the story they are
representing. This is also possible if you take photos and show them on a screen later. You may sk students to write their ideas on
paper first, for everybody to have time to think.
