 Drill: Identify the following pictures: pyramid, ice cream, building, ice
cubes and battery.

 Identify the following plane figures below.
D. Motivation:
 I have here an Eco bag, inside of this bag has different
figure all you have to do is to pick one figure in this bag
and tell to everyone what kind of shape did you pick.
 Is that clear?
 So who wants to pick first in my big box? Anyone?

 Identify the following solid figures: Cube, Cylinder,
Pyramid, Sphere, Rectangular Prism, and Cone.

V. ANALYSIS:
 Who can guess our lesson in this afternoon?
 Our lesson is about solid figures

 How many faces, vertices and edges does a cube have?


 How about the Cylinder, Pyramid, Sphere, Rectangular
prism and Cone?
VI. ABSTRACTION:
 Do you familiar about the word Polyhedron and Non-
polyhedron?
 What is Polyhedron?
 Polyhedron is a three-dimensional figure that is made
up of polygons.
The following solid figures are classified as polyhedron:
1. Prism- It is a polyhedron with a pair of congruent parallel faces.
Example of Prism: Cube, Rectangular prism, Triangular prism
2. Pyramid- It is a polyhedron without any parallel faces. The shapes of
the base determines its name.
 What is Non-polyhedron?
 Non-polyhedron is a three-dimensional figures with
sides that are not polygons.
The following solid figures are classified as Non-polyhedron:
1. Cylinder- It has two circular bases and curved surface. The curved surface
is like a “rolled” rectangular region.
2. Cone- It has a circular base and curved surface.
3. Sphere- It has a curved surface without a base. All the points on the curved
surface are equidistant from the center of the figure.
 WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF SOLID FIGURES IN REAL LIFE?
 Learning about solid shapes will help us in our day-to-day life as most
of our activities revolve around and depend on them.
VII. APPLICATION:
 Group Activity: (5 minutes)
Group 1- Identify whether the given solid figure is a
polyhedron or a non-polyhedron.
Group 2- Give the number of faces, edges and vertices of
the following solid figures given.
Group 3- Identify the following solid figures given.

VIII. GENERALIZATION:
 So did you all understand our lesson this afternoon?
 What are the different kinds of solid figures?
 What are the parts of solid figures?
 Solid figures are classified into types, those are?

IX. EVALUATION:
 Direction: In a ½ sheet of paper, Draw the following solid figures.
1. Sphere
2. Cone
3. Cube
4. Cylinder
5. Pyramid

X. ASSIGNMENT:
 Direction: Make models of a solid figures using illustration board, paper
Carolina or Neon paper.
