Have you seen a volcano before class? Yes/No, ma’am.
When you heard the word volcano, what
comes first in your mind? Any idea? Ma’am?
Yes, Joshua? A volcano is an opening in the earth
surface that allows magma, volcanic ash,
and gasses to escape.
Thank you for that brilliant idea. Another
idea? Yes Shiela? Volcano is an example of a land
formation and a great place attraction.
Very good!

Our country Philippines is located near in

the Pacific Ring of Fire that’s why we are
surrounded with many volcanoes.

Can you name a volcano that can be

found in our country, Philippines? Ma’am!

Yes Kenneth? Mount Mayon, taal volcano, and mount

Pinatubo ma’am!

erupts?
The volcano will spurt lots of hot
ash and rocks into the air,
making them extremely
dangerous.

- Tectonic plates are the key
- Moving tectonic plates that
can’t cause earthquakes and
the magma beneath the
surface has an opportunity to
escape.

IV.ABSTRACTION

Now from Mayon volcano in Albay, how

would you like to see and explore
volcanic eruptions here in our classroom We are very excited ma’am!
through experiment?

This time we will have an experiment, in

your groups you will be given a model of
a volcano and the materials, all you
have to do is to perform an experiment
by following the procedure below and
we can have a mini volcanic eruption by
using these available local materials.

Are you excited? Yes, ma’am!

Materials:
1. red or yellow food
Coloring (optional)
2.Vinegar (EXPERIMENT TIME)
3. Liquid dish washing soap
4. spoon

Procedure:
Step 1: add two spoonsful of baking soda
Step 2: add about a spoonful of dish
wash soap
Step 3: Add about 5 drops of each of the
red and yellow food coloring

Now for the eruption:

Step 4: Add about an ounce of the
vinegar into the container.

Watch what will happen next!

Guide questions:
Describe the volcano, before and after
the eruptions?

Base in our experiment what makes the

model volcano erupts?
Before the eruption ma’am, the volcano
is calm but after the eruption happen
Very good, it erupts due to the chemical there are liquids that comes out with
reaction by adding vinegar to baking bubbles. It is because of the chemical
soda. reaction that happen inside ma’am

As what have you observe there are

liquids that comes out after the chemical
reaction happen and in the volcanic
eruptions, it is called? Anyone?
Lava ma’am
Very good!

What do you think can we found Hot liquid rocks can be found beneath
beneath the volcano? the earth’s surface ma’am

Thank you! Everyone, give yourselves a

big firework clap for a job well done.

Did you enjoy in our experimentation this

morning?
Yes, ma’am!
V.GENERALIZATION

Our country Philippines is located near

the pacific ring of fire that’s why we have
many volcanoes that surround us.

What are the three external parts of

volcanoes?

What are the two types of volcano? ma’am!

Ye Kenneth?
In active and active volcanoes ma’am!
What do you call those hot liquid that
exists beneath the earth’s surface?
Magma ma’am!
Where does magma accumulate?
Excellent! At the center parts of the volcano

the reason why magma moves towards

the surface of the earth, it is because of
the tremendous pressure and hot
temperature that makes the magma
moves.
So now, class what will happen when
magma reaches the surface?
It becomes lava ma’am
Very good!

On the other hand, there are positive

benefits of volcanic eruption:
• Farming
• Fertile lands
• Land formation
• Geothermal energy
• Raw materials

VI.APPLICATION

What can be seen during eruption?

During eruption ma’am smoke and gasses
What would you feel if you were living in released and there is a mudflow of lava
place where an active volcano exists? coming out of the volcano
Yes Clarisse? Ma’am!
Afraid ma’am and always feel terrified
Yes, you will be felt unsafe and scared,
Imagine you are living near an active
volcano that anytime can erupt, what
are the possible preventive measures
that we can do/prepare to be safe in
times of volcanic eruption?
Always be prepared ma’am!
VI. EVALUATION
This time you are going to answer
individually. You all have 3 minutes to
answer. am I clear?
Yes, ma’am!
Matching type: choose the letter of the
correct answer from column A to column B.

Column A
1 What is the center part of the Column B
volcano?

VII. ASSIGNMENT

For your assignment next meeting, search

and study in advance about the different
types of volcanic eruption.

Am I understood class?
Yes, ma’am!
That’s all for today, I hope you all learn
something new, see you tomorrow.
Goodbye class?
