Introduction
Presgraf is an integrated tool for geo-pressure prediction, analysis and interpretation that runs on
the Windows PC operating system for drilling engineers, geologists, geophysicists,
petrophysicists, and pore pressure specialists.
Pore pressure, fracture gradient, and other geo-pressure parameters are calculated from 1D, 2D and
3D well and seismic data. Presgraf contains advanced utilities to evaluate source rock from well
logs; hydrocarbon type, column height and buoyancy from formation pressure measurements; and
inclusion of tectonic stress effects with compaction trend and hydraulic fracture gradient.
Presgraf offers a scalable and powerful solution for the office and the rigsite with its OpenWorks,
DEX, and ASCII data accessibility, 3D rendering via integration with Landmark’s 3D Drill View,
access to MWD/LWD real-time drilling data via Landmark’s OpenWire (WITSML to OpenWorks
data loader), and DEX interface with Landmark’s Drilling and Well Services Products.
OpenWorks integration provides workflow usage with Landmark’s Unix/Linux geoscience
product lines.
Presgraf input data categories span from mud weight and formation pressure measurements, log
curves, seismic derived velocities and capillary pressures. Presgraf results may be rendered via 2D
displays and advanced options of 3D pressure cubes and geo-pressure curves in 3D.
This document contains important information related to Presgraf 2003.0.1 that is not documented
elsewhere.
System Requirements
The system requirements are determined by whether Presgraf is functioning in Standard Mode or
in OpenWorks Mode. In OpenWorks Mode, most of the system requirements for Presgraf 2003.0.1
are determined by the greater requirements of OpenWorks and its database.
Standard Mode
Operating System
Presgraf is certified on Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack
1 or greater. Presgraf will operate on Windows XP.
Hardware Requirements
The requirements below are for Standard Mode. The requirements are the same for Presgraf on a
standalone or a networked computer, except for the TCP/IP-based network connection.
Recommended Minimum

connection with a minimum bandwidth of 10 Mbps.
Software Requirements
• Microsoft Excel 9.0 or greater- Excel is required to create User Defined Equations.
Aside from Excel, Presgraf in Standard Mode requires no other software, except possibly the
applications whose data Presgraf will be accessing and Landmark’s License Application Manager

Patch List
There are no patches at this time.
Installation
Before installing Presgraf, the following must be installed:
• Oracle
• LAM and a license file (for example, license.dat )
• Acrobat Reader
• OpenWorks
Additionally, we strongly recommend that you update the machine on which Presgraf is being
installed with the latest operating system patch prior to installing Presgraf; even though the proper
patch might already be installed. You may need to login as the machine’s administrator to install
the operating system patch.
Note
Even if the latest operating system patch has been installed on the machine, it is
possible that other product installations might have installed old versions of
system DLLs. As these old DLLs might affect Presgraf performance, it is
recommended that you re-install the most recent patch.
if you already have the proper patch or newer that there might be a possibility that installations of
To install Presgraf, do the following:
1. Log on as administrator.
2. Put the Presgraf CD in the CD-ROM drive. The installation will run in an automatic startup
mode; if it does not, use the following steps:
DriveLettter:\Setup.exe
• Click OK.
• Click Next.
• Click Next.
9. When the Presgraf Setup screen closes, remove the Presgraf CD from the CD-ROM drive.
To verify that Presgraf installed correctly and can access the Landmark license file, use one of the
following methods to start the program.
If the program cannot find the license file, the following message will appear:

Fixed Problems
This is the first commercial release of Presgraf.
Known Problems
The following problems are known to exist is this release of Presgraf. A complete list of known
problems is available from Landmark’s Support organization.
An incident has been reported during which Presgraf has crashed after accessing the OpenWorks
functionality. Landmark has been unable to reproduce this problem internally. At this time, it is
believed that this problem occurs due to incorrect versions of system DLLs being installed on the
machine running Presgraf. Re-installing the latest operating system patch may solve this issue.
If Presgraf cannot be closed by selecting File> Exit Presgraf or by clicking the X you will need
to manually close Presgraf through the Windows Task Manager. Follow these steps to close
Presgraf through the Task Manager:
2. Open the Windows Task Manager by right-clicking an empty space on the taskbar, and then
selecting Task Manager.
4. With Presgraf highlighted, click the End Task Button. You may need to click this button
twice before Presgraf will close.
It is possible that the ComDex.dll will not install correctly during the Presgraf installation. If this
is the case, you can manually register the ComDex.dll by performing the following steps:
1. Access the Windows Command Prompt by clicking the Start button and selecting Run.
2. In the Open: box type <Presgraf Install Folder> regsvr32 comdex.dll where <Presgraf
Install Folder> is equal to the directory in which Presgraf was installed. Thus if you accepted
3. Click OK.
It is possible that the Presgraf installation will shut down before it is completed. When this occurs
you will not be prompted to create the Presgraf Desktop Icon or to click the Finish button. In order
to manually complete the installation, you must register the comdex.dll as described above. You
can also create your own desktop shortcut by navigating to the folder in which Presgraf was
installed, then right-clicking the Presgraf.exe and selecting Create Shortcut. You can then drag
this shortcut to the desktop.
Some of the SP data may not properly display with .BIL file for certain combinations of log curves.
On some printers, the Presgraf File Legend will not be printed. This problem is printer dependent,
and thus may be fixed by using another printer.
On some printers, the Presgraf Leak Off Legend does not appear correctly when printed. This
problem is printer dependent, and thus may be fixed by using another printer.
When a 2waytime/stacking velocity ASCII file is input to the ASCII-Seismic dialog, the
2WayTime column of the 3D seismic output file will display as zeros.
Presgraf properly reads the input file and performs geopressure calculations. The 2WayTime
column in the output file was intended for additional display informational purposes.
Contacting Support
Landmark operates a number of Technical Assistance Centers (TACs). Additional support is
provided through district support offices around the world. If problems cannot be resolved at the
district level, Landmark’s escalation team is called to resolve your incidents quickly.
