EDITED PCU Abstract MPDARAUG

This study examines the experiences of 4 young married Manobo-Dulangan women ages 14 to 18 and 4 older married women ages 30 and above in Senator Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat, Philippines. All 8 participants objected to early marriage and did not want their children to experience the hardships of early marriage. The researcher recommends intensifying implementation of RA 115961, which prohibits child marriage, to benefit future generations. However, 3 of the 8 participants expressed doubts about possible consequences of the new law for their tribal traditions. More awareness and education is needed regarding RA 115961 to help the community understand how to balance tradition and children's rights.
