Dark souls 2 notes and lore

Mentioning drangleic as an ancient, forgotten land where souls fuck you, usually see in dreams.

The mark of the cursed is an bad omen, because it slowly turns their bearers into mindless
beasts that only want to kill to feed on souls.

The cursed also seem to be drawn to Drangleic, as if someone is calling them, and actually, the
Baba tells youz

To access Drangleic, the cursed use a whirlpool in a lake and they dive deep into the depths of
it, strangely, ending up in Drangleic, but inside a structure similar to a kiosk with several circles
as floor. It's obvious that's a portal, and we actually travelled either to another dimension or
through time.

You start your journey with the following items:

Darksign: induces death, returning the player to the last bonfire rested at, at the cost of all souls
held. "Do what you must to gather the pieces, scraping them into some semblance of a whole,
before the will to do so fades". Maybe a part of the cursed, where you abandon what keeps you
human —souls— in order to die and return to a safe point.
Black Separation Crystal: A symbol of farewell that has been passed down since time
immemorial. | The crystal sends phantoms back to their homes, or sends you back to yours. |
I'm guessing this was gifted to you, as a hollow, nobody wants you near, and they surely will kick
you out.

You did a lot of noise while going down. Others have done the same, and they also spoke with
the hag. And they all turned hollow, because these hags think you're going to be the same.
Because you remember your name, the hags gift you with a human effigy, an item that
symbolises humanity.

Hollows go to Drangleic to break the curse, allegedly.

Having souls is what prevents you to turn hollow, but you'll be lose them over and over again.

The place where the firelink maidens are is a "Limbo between Drangleic and the outer world".
And cursed people that go there often have a story, a deep reason to why they are there.

Millibeth, the caretaker of the Fire Maidens. She's the third or so generations that takes care of
them.

The old women were keepers of the fire, but now the fire shows signs of withering, and I'm
guessing they aren't guarding the fire because there's no purpose on doing so anymore. Also,
the kingdom has decayed and is infested with hollows.

These three and the hag from above are sisters, but one went away for some reason.
Firekeepers used to be common, but now they scattered away from the kingdom.
Forossa: a kingdom that seems to have been a place of great fighters, according to the Stone
Ring Description.

The first time you talk with the emerald herald, she asks you if you're going to be the next king,
or fade away as the rest. She asks you to go see king vendrick, the one who saw the essence
of the soul and build this kingdom.

She advice about seeking misery, for misery is found where greater souls are, so you can get
stronger souls to meet king Vendrick.

You have to seek for four great souls of great lords, souls that will serve as beacons.

The only way to triumph in this land is to get a powerful soul and seek the king.

Over the hill past the forest is the castle of the king, the one that saw the true essence of the
souls... But what became of that.

All the individuals that end up in Drangleic seek salvation, but sooner or later they loose all
hope, ending up as defeated souls that in time turn hollow.

Tiny thing inside the ruins. Ancient, she impart sound wisdom, if you get to her good side.

The cursed sign will drain your souls. But stand strong.

Undead never die, they are only a step closer to hollowness.

Hollows have the smell of fate.

In all Drangleic, only Majula offers a settlement where life is almost normal.

Saulden lost everything and ended up here. He thought the cursed could be broken there, but it
was all false. He has no hope.

The essence of life is the soul, and supposedly, every living thing have one. But to Saulden, the
real curse is to walk the earth, I think, specially as hollows who will never die.

Four beings with giant souls. Go in any direction from Majula, you'll surely find one of them.
They are so old that nobody remembers their names.

The Blue Sentinels are an organisation of kind souls dedicated to aid the needed.

At the forest, there used to be a great fort, of which only little remains. It's called the forest of the
giants.

Heide's tower lies beyond the far gate. In that cathedral the apostles of blue gather. But the way
there is perilous.

The bonefires are beacons to the undead. They rest there, and are healed by the flame.
Long ago, the Fire Keepers protected the bonfires from those trying to extinguis them. Now they
are gone.

The letters on the ground are messages from other worlds, other times, since in Drangleic time
flows strangely. Schisms in time provide summons from other worlds.

Maughlin a seller. A shy one. He's from Volgen, west from Majula, a lively place, very
competitive, where you have to "grease the wheels to get anywhere". Maughlin didn't have that,
so he left to try his luck. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened, and he do not remember how
much has it been since he left home.  | The Blue Sentinels acquired a lot of power in Volgen, so
much that you cannot run a store without their blessings. They say they are working for the
greater good.

Shalquoir, the cat. She likes the smell of my undead, although she said it's the smell of one that
doesn't have much time left until it crumbles. | Drangleic is already dead. Not to worry, at least
for her, something falls so another thing can be build. | She loves this place becayof the
interesting people that goes there. | Covenants are a type of contract, humans like that, give
something to get something.

A natural formed rock it's called The Victor's Rock. If you wish to face greater challenges, speak
to it.

Living beings can be turn to stone.
