ABSTRACT
The study was aimed at investigating the difference between pre-test and
post-test of teaching English using comic. It is because there is differences
between teaching English using comic or not.
The study used quantitative comparative approach with Pre-Experimental
design in finding out the answer of problem of the study. The population of the
study consisted of a class of the eleventh grade student of Senior High School 1
Sampit. The total number of students was 28 students. The sample was
determined by using purposive sampling technique. The sample were given pre-
test and post-test to gain the students’ score in teaching English using comic.
After getting the data of pre-test and post-test score, the writer analyzed the data
using ttest paired test formula to test the hypothesis.
The result of testing hypothesis determined that the alternative hypothesis
(Ha) stated that there is significant difference between pre-test and post-test of
teaching English using comic of eleventh grade students of Senior High School 1
Sampit was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) stated that there is no any
significant difference between pre-test and post-test of teaching English using
comic of eleventh grade students of Senior High School 1 Sampit was rejected. It
meant that there is significant difference between pre-test and post-test of teaching
English using comic in eleventh grade students of Senior High School 1 Sampit. It
was found that the result of tobserved was 2,749 and the ttable was 2,473 at 1% of
significance level with the degree of freedom (df) was 27. It showed that tobserved
was bigger than ttable. In addition, the calculation result using SPSS 19 also
supported the interpretation of t-test result from manual calculation. It means that
there is significant difference between pre-test and post-test of teaching English
using comic.
