Assignment 5

Posted: Thursday Nov 3, 2022 Submission date: Friday, Nov 18, by 12 Noon.
All submissions must be hand written. Your ID number must be on each page

1. Use any method of circuit analysis to determine the power dissipation in each resistor in the
circuit if Fig. 5.1.

2. Determine the value of V1 and V2 in the circuit of Fig. 5.2

Fig 5.2

3. Calculate the source current I and the total power delivered to the circuit in Fig 5.3.

4. A power transmission line carries current from a 6000-Vac generator to three loads, A, B, and C.
The loads are located at 4, 7, and 10 km from the generator and draw 50, 30, and 100 A,
respectively. The resistance of the line is 0.05 Ω/km; see Fig. 5.4.
a. Find the voltage at loads A, B, C.
b. Find the maximum percentage voltage drop from the generator to a load.

6. Determine the Thevenin’s equivalent circuit for the circuit in Fig 5.6 and determine the value of
R that will allow maximum power to be delivered to it.
