GOAL: The goal is to measure the weather using different


weather-measuring tools/devices and be able to create a
weather chart to produce a weather report for the city.

ROLE: You are a weather forecaster and you need to obtain data by
observing and measuring the weather.

AUDIENCE: The target audience is the community (students, parents,


community leaders, farmers, business owners, etc.)

SITUATION: You have been asked to measure the weather in order to create
a weather chart showing the principal meteorological elements
at a given time and over an extended region. Choose a city for
your weather observation and measurement, and decide which
weather instrument to use for the activity. Then, you will create
a weather chart that will show the difference in weather from
time to time and from place to place, based on different weather
components.

PRODUCT You need to prepare a weather chart in order to provide and


PURPOSE: demonstrate useful information about the weather conditions.
By providing people with a weather chart that illustrates the
variations in weather from various times and places, based on
various weather components, you can inform people of what to
expect in terms of the weather, which can protect and save the
life of the people, animals, as well as their lands and properties.

STANDARD: Your weather chart needs to include clear and accurate


information on the distribution patterns of atmospheric
pressure, wind, temperature, and humidity at the different
levels of the atmosphere.
GROUP PRODUCT ASSESSMENT
“Weather Chart”

Instruction:

● The class will be divided into 4 groups.


● Each group will select a city for their weather observation and measurement.
● Each group will also select weather instruments to be used for the activity.
● Students may use a variety of weather measuring tools/devices.
● Each group will create a weather chart using the data they obtain from observing
and measuring the weather.
● After creating the weather chart, each group must be prepared for the weather
report to be presented in the class.

Weather Instrument

Weather instrument is any device that measures weather related conditions. Since there
are wide varieties of weather conditions that can be measured, there are many different
instruments that can be used to measure the weather. Below are some examples of
weather instruments that you may choose from to measure the weather. However, you
may ask the teacher about the use of an instrument you wish to use that is NOT on the
list.

● Thermometer
● Wind vane
● Anemometer
● Barometer
● Rain gauge
● Hygrometer
