Title of Artifact: Teacher observation journals
(Explain what you did to complete this assignment/artifact and how this artifact best
represents this particular InTASC standard, Course Competency and Essential Learning
Outcome.
● How did this assignment help you with professional learning?
While observing in the classroom I was able to learn a lot. I have been able
to see the different ways that you have to adapt and change with the flow of
the students and the environment. I learned different types of classroom
management and kept things running smoothly. Being able to grow myself
and my knowledge while watching and observing classrooms. Creating
Journals for the main factors in a classroom, gave me a great way to look
back on what I saw. It made me dive deeper and make something out of my
observations. I also think that it will be a huge benefit in my future because
I have a step up. I will be able to know good ways to make a classroom
excel and thrive.
● How did this assignment help you to examine the professional aspects of teaching?
This assignment helped me to really go through each of the different aspects of
teaching. I was able to take what I saw and dive into what were some of the great
things I saw that I can use in my future. I think being able to really think through
everything I saw and pick out what really helped make a good class environment
and what I thought worked really well was a great way to prosess through what I
saw and watched. Being able to reflect and think through the different aspects was
something that made the observing prosess to another level. I think sitting there
observing helped me so much, but then taking what I saw and reflecting and
journaling about it made it last so much more. Since I journaled about them I have
what I saw and liked, which could be a good tool in my future.
● How did this help assignment help you to understand the discipline of teaching and
learning?
Through writing these journals I was able to gain a new prospective on taking what I see
and making them into thoughts. I was able to get so much more from my observations by
completing journals. I do think that this assignment helped me to understand the discipline
of teaching and learning in multiple ways. The first one being able to just see what really
works for teachers, and being able to see that sometime it requires you to adapt. Another
thing it allowed me to see is that in order to be able to teach and allow for success the
foundation is just as important. Making sure you have the discipline of teaching and
learning is a key for that. Being able to use your skills to teach them and allow them to be a
good member of society by teaching them the norms and what to do. Seeing teachers do it
first hand allowed me to see it well.

I learned a lot about the profession of teaching after observing and completing my journals.
Being able to sit in a classroom and see what it's really like to have a room full of kids and
so much to teach them. I think it really validating to me on why I want to be a teacher and
what I saw from teaching. Being able to give your students a great year while growing their
brains. I also did see alot of how important it is to have certain things in your classroom. I
think this will definitely help me in my future because I was able to have experiance in the
classroom and what its like. As well as some of the tools that worked super well in the
classroom. Also seeing how important the little things are and not just the big things. I do
think that this experiance was able to be a benefit for my future students. I saw a great
teacher and that who I'm going to push myself to be. Knowing different tips and tricks are a
valuable thing to know. I will be able to implement them in my classroom and benefit from
the students learning. I learned a lot throughout the entire semester of observing and then
reflecting which will be a tool for my future and my future students.
